o A problem having no satisfying existing solutions (e.g. the de pollution
of the pacific garbage patch, the lack of security on the Internet, the
organization of collective intelligence to find innovative solutions to
global issues, the crisis of the democracy, the lack of solid governance
structure in collaborative economy, the decrease in motivation in the
workplace, the rise of stress and socio psychological risk in everyday
life, the access of pure water for poor countries, ...)
o A lack of money that circulates toward the given problem (e.g. an
orphan disease with no money to support research, the lack of money
to support the development of culture and to fund artists, ...)
11. Your idea
• Address a real problem of the society:
o A technological standard or dominant design/paradigm that
forecloses an entire industry in a given approach (e.g. the petrol
engine in the aircraft industry, the copyright issue in academic
research and the related challenges around open data's, the
traditional way of learning at school, the curative approach and focus
of Western hospitals, ...)
o The stigmatization or the poor image of a problem that encourages
people not to engage in this problem (e.g. alcohol abuse problem, the
waste industry, the malnutrition, the health or hygiene issues for
homeless, the problem of violence in intimate relationship...)
o Existing systems that foreclose innovative approaches (e.g. the taxi VS
UBER, driving schools VS Ouidrive, …)
12. Your idea
• Your innovative project should be able to convince people to
fund it through a crowdfunding campaign
• The related project should be easy to present and to explain
• It must be possible to evaluate objectively the solution of your
project through measurable and/or assessable indicators (you
will need to define these criteria you will use to judge if
someone has achieved to find a solution)
• Do not forget that at the end of the project, the potential
produced solution will be released in open source
