This is especially evident among youth. These were the costs to the state in 2007. Youth violence includes sexual assault and homicide, drunk driving of course is a huge cost to our community taking innocent lives almost everyday. High risk sex is basically unprotected sex which contributes to our high teen pregnancy rate in TX along with STDs. Vandalism and accidental injury are synonomous with alcohol use among minors. I know a lot of apartment complexes that have had to set strict rules with regard to pool access or public property access due to these parties leading to vandalism and broken bottles in public areas. It’s important that we recognize all of the risks and costs that alcohol abuse pose so that we can recognize the importance of dealing with this issue.
