Delivering quality media experiences to managed devices within the home has typically been the strength of Service Providers and Broadcasters. As the number and type of media capable devices begin to expand exponentially those operators are faced with increasingly complex challenges in trying to satisfy consumers expectations on these "unmanaged" devices. This session will outline the key differences in delivering media services across both managed and unmanaged networks and devices. It will examine how service providers and broadcasters can successfully provide both linear and on-demand services to devices with widely ranging form factors, network capabilities and presentation technologies. Key to this success is close cooperation and intelligent linkages between previously disparate elements of the media management and delivery ecosystem. We will examine how the core capabilities of the content management systems, content delivery networks, network services and client applications can be evolved not only to provide quality media delivery, but how new linkages between these systems can be leveraged to provide a consistent, unified and substantially enhanced media experience.
