Linxdatacenter, as an international
supplier of DPC solutions, is a partner
of the largest national and international
corporations for whom the primary focus
is security of solutions, optimization
of costs and flexibility of a supplier
with regard to the modification of the
project as a result of the growth or
closing up of the business or traffic.
The Head office of Linxdatacenter is
located in Amsterdam; four of its own
Tier 3 data-centers are located in
Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Tallinn and
Warsaw. In 2013, Linx Group became a
prestigious RusPrix Award prize-winner
in the category of the “best results
achieved by a Dutch company in the
Russian market”. In 2011, the Group
received the DatacenterDynamics
Datacenter Leaders Award in the
category of the “Innovation in the Mega-
Data center” for opening high-tech Data

standards, integrated in a unified
network and reserved by connection
ports, equipped with uninterruptable
energy supply and air conditioning
systems as well as meeting the most
rigorous requirements of reliability
and security of data transfer.
Linxdatacenter provides multilateral
support to customers and is always
looking for new solutions, improving
the efficiency of data centers and
expanding the range of services. The
company followed these principles
when, in the fall of 2013, it developed
LinxCloud platform in the St. Petersburg
Linxdatacenter DPC based on Cisco
solutions, NetApp and VMware.
LinxCloud (laaS) platform in
St. Petersburg is similar to the
solution installed one year earlier in
Linxdatacenter DPC in Warsaw. In
terms of the technology, the Warsaw

one of the most advanced DPCs
in Central and Eastern Europe.
Implementation of the project
and Outcomes
LinxCloud platform (laaS) is based on the
FlexPod platform which consists of blade
baskets of Cisco UCS, Cisco Nexus
5000 switches, Cisco Nexus 1000v
virtual switch and Cisco UCS Director
software for operating the equipment.
FlexPod also consists of NetApp
data storage system and VMware
vCloud virtualization applications.
Such package of equipment fully
meets business-requirements of
Linxdatacenter customers and
provides the company with a few
important competitive advantages.
First of all, ready-to-use and tested
in advance FlexPod equipment has
enabled us to efficiently launch the cloud
platform and start the provision of new
commercial services in the shortest
time possible. Secondly, the presence
of authorized partner-integrators of
Cisco in Russia and Europe, significantly
simplified the installation and operation
of the equipment: BCC and Comtegra,
who have experience and expertise in
FlexPod, successfully carried out the
installation work as part of the project,
and currently are providing high quality
support in 24x7 mode. Thirdly, the
financing of the project according to the
leasing schedule via Cisco Capital, gave
Linxdatacenter an advantage of investing
into the project. Because the model for

The uniqueness of LinxCloud (laaS) in the Data Processing
Center (DPC) in Saint Petersburg is supported by the fact that
the solution is based on a highly reliable multi-user platform
from world leaders – Cisco, NetApp and VMware. Such
integration of IT-Technologies with its own data processing
centers of Linxdatacenter and the network of Linxtelecom
allows our clients to create hybrid and private clouds for
processing, storing and transferring data by resolving the
issues of continuity and recovery of business, remote storage
of data, development of virtual offices and provision of services
by subscription. At the same time, the operation of all individual
systems designed and built by us has the highest indicators of
accessibility. This makes the end users confident that they will
receive uninterrupted services of outsourced IT infrastructure.
Currently FlexPod complex has been fully developed and
implemented in the commercial operations of our Data
Processing Center in Saint Petersburg. Moreover, the first large
client – company Play (Yota) has been migrated into the cloud
and a few more projects are at the stage of preparatory works.
We would like to point out that, under this project, an additional
feature has been added to the collaboration with Cisco. This
is a bonus in the form of a two-day training in FlexPod in the
Moscow training center. This training significantly helped us as
clients during the preparation and launching of the complex in
the Data Processing Center.

Finally, the FlexPod solution gives
a wide range of scaling options in

FlexPod was installed in Linxdatacenter
DPC in St. Petersburg (two units of
each component – blade-baskets and

switches) while the platform is scaled
with minimum efforts by adding additional
blade servers and disc enclosures.
Similar basic configuration of the FlexPod
platform is in operation in Linxdatacenter
DPC in Warsaw. During its one year
operation, it has gained a reputation
of a reliable solution with future: the
equipment worked without interruptions
and allowed to quickly resolve problems
related to the tech support of users.
Additionionally, Linxdatacenter received
positive feedback from the customers
about stability of cloud services.
Linxdatacenter started to provide
Infrastructure as a Service (laaS) based
on the FlexPod platform installed in St.
Petersburg, i.e. Linxdatacenter is offering
IT infrastructure based on the concept
of cloud computing. FlexPod capabilities
allow to comply with the requirements of
the widest range of customers: for basic
services laaS Linxdatacenter uses highly
standardized and tested solution. At the
same time, while performing joint work
on an individual project of the customer,
the company can provide flexible
options and expanded functionality.
The demonstrative example of the fact
that FlexPod offers maximum flexibility
in the provision of cloud services
became the project of the creation of a
hybrid cloud for company Play (Yota).
This is an online service offering legal
media content by subscription. In the
framework of this project, Linxdatacenter
provides services of virtual infrastructure
laaS, services of switching networks
on the basis of Cisco Nexus, services
of edge routers on the basis of Cisco
ASR, as well as expanded technical
support of Remote & Smart Hands.

cloud technologies. Therefore,
we offer comprehensive
FlexPod solution based
on which modern data
processing cloud centers can
be built. FlexPod is a tested
and converged computing
platform. By using FlexPod,
risks associated with the
integration of any IT solution
can be minimized. The cost to
customers is also minimized
by quick deploy. At the same
time, the platform can be
easily scaled considering the
demands of various loads and
the process of control does
not become complicated as
computing resources grow.
