Artist: Chiara Adams Title: Live Wires Medium: Fineliners and Markers Size: 195mm x 278mm Art description A wild, charged portrait of a person who is alive. Artist bio My name is Chiara, I'm 23 years old and I live in Perth, Western Australia. I have always been creative; occupied and entertained by putting my hands to any manmade or natural material to create whatever inspires me. As a child, my television-watching was restricted, so I read many books. I loved to write fiction and poetry, to draw and to paint. 2011 marks the beginning of my third year as a graphic design student. This year I will be specialising in Illustration & Multimedia as well as Advertising & Web Design. 2012 will be my final year, after which I will be looking for experience in a design studio. I want to be a valued part of a team and to move forward in any way that I can. My ideal position would be based around illustration and give me the opportunity to be highly creative. I started working under the Doublethink Design moniker in 2008 when I began taking on freelance work. I've designed album covers, posters, advertisements and other promotional material; designed logos, business cards and corporate stationery; photographed bands both live and conceptually; created custom illustrations and paintings on a commission basis, and also as a part of my design work. This blog is a way for me to keep a record of my creative life. It's not intended to be viewed as a portfolio, but as a visual diary. I post most of the things I make, including drawings from my sketchbook, coursework, illustrations I've produced in my own time and work I've done for clients. I'm always looking to take new projects on board, no matter how big or small. I have a great sense of integrity and I enjoy my work immensely. I feel like one of the luckiest people in the world because I know that the only thing standing between me and my dreams is hard work, and I know I can handle hard work.
Artist: Judy Rogers Title: Rob Diptych Medium: Mixed Media on Board Size: 90x45cm Art description Robert Cleworth is my friend. He has recently moved away to New South Wales and I was quite devastated to lose him as a good friend, mentor and colleague. I wanted to keep him around a bit longer; this is why I made his portrait. I visited him in Newcastle and the sitting for the portrait took place on his balcony in the morning sunshine after a night of family dinner, running around after kids and conversation. I used the triptych format to emphasize some of Rob's personal qualities and bring out his dynamic character. He is, under a very private persona, a warm end engaging man with a good sense of humour. Artist bio Judy Rogers was born in Hungary, moved to Perth in 1995. She works in the blend(er) gallery, Joondalup as a curator and has an artist studio in the Tresillian Art Centre in Nedlands. She has participated in more than 120 solo and group exhibitions in Western Australia, Victoria and Queensland. She has worked on major public art commissions and she has received considerable recognition and awards. Her work can be found in the following collections: Public: Edith Cowan University, King Edward Memorial Hospital, Royal Perth Hospital, City of Wanneroo, Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital, City of Belmont, National Lifestyle Villages, City of Joondalup. Various private collections, Horn Collection WA, Australia-New Zealand, Great Britain, France and Hungary. Represented by: Perth Galleries
Artist: Judy Rogers Title: Marriage Diptych Medium: Mixed Media on Board Size: 120x60cm Art description This work is a representation of my marriage. The white shirt is the institution and the hands represent the dynamics of the relationship. The fabric is sometimes gently drawn to cover and protect and sometimes violently pulled when it becomes suffocating. The bodies are intertwined and joined; they are merging together as one body. Artist: Judy Rogers Title: Koi Medium: Mixed Media on Board, Tondo Format Size: 60cm in diameter Art description I love koi for their beauty and friendly nature. I want to show the enthusiasm of the koi pond at feeding time, the whirling bodies, the sound of gulping mouths and the whole beautiful dance of life. My first zoological triumph was to put together a carp skeleton after a Christmas dinner, aged 9. I have been hooked since then. Artist bio Judy Rogers was born in Hungary, moved to Perth in 1995. She works in the blend(er) gallery, Joondalup as a curator and has an artist studio in the Tresillian Art Centre in Nedlands. Artist: Katerina Vega Title: Why? Medium: Drawing/Sketch Art description A simple capture of emotion. Children often portray the most potent and untainted displays of emotion and I attempted to capture an example of this. In my eyes, this sketch also presents the strangeness of the adult world to children, and how confusing adults' and society's antics are to them. Artist bio I'm a 16 year old grade 12 student living in Perth, Western Australia. I spend a lot of my time drawing and practicing creative writing to express ideas and feelings that cannot always be expressed in other ways.

Artist: Susan Radaich Title: Erosion Medium: Acrylic on Canvas Size: 78cm x 78cm Art description Through sculptural layering, her paintings express beautiful open-pits and slips. Washes of colour and fine brush markings create depth and atmosphere. Texture and colour display the energetic surfaces of the harsh Australian terrain which is rendered with rich colours that delivers a contemporary finish. Artist bio Biography Susan Coral Radaich (nee Simmons) was born in the mining town of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. Her father and grandfathers were all miners that worked in the Goldfields. Reminiscing upon her childhood memories of exploring old mine diggings, family picnics in the bush and walks amongst the Australian landscape, Susan expresses in her work a visual diary. It is a journey for you to experience the changes in the natural landscape of the region to the commencement of corporate mining. Through sculptural layering, her paintings express beautiful open-pits and slips. Washes of colour and fine brush markings create depth and atmosphere. Texture and colour display the energetic surfaces of the harsh Australian terrain which is rendered with rich colours that delivers a contemporary finish. It is there from her memories that she has developed as an emerging visual artist specializing in the life of mining in the Goldfields. I hope the individual viewer experiences the strong qualities of her works at an emotional level. Her Future aspirations are to continue in the same direction painting in the remote regions of Western Australia. She successfully completed a Diploma in Fine Arts at the Claremont School of Arts in 1983. Living and working in the City of Cockburn (South of Fremantle), Susan is much involved in a local art society and its biannual Exhibitions, she has hosted solo Exhibitions at the Mining Hall of Fame in Kalgoorlie and the Memorial Hall, Hamilton Hill. Artist: Susan Radaich Title: Big Rewards Medium: Acrylic on Canvas Size: 122cm x 91cm Art description Big Rewards combine both natural forms of nature and the results of corporate mining activity. An approach that is employed in my art work is the thick sculptural layering with a palette knife, using acrylic on canvas, to give the painting texture, then overlaid with transparent sprays and washes of colour. Artist bio Biography Susan Coral Radaich (nee Simmons) was born in the mining town of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. Her father and grandfathers were all miners that worked in the Goldfields. Artist:Melinda Ison-Poor Title: suspended Medium: Photograph Size: 32"x20" Art description It is apparent that her feet are not on solid ground. Could she be ascending into heaven, or merely suspended in time. Artist bio I take inspiration from all quarters, I celebrate the unusual, I break rules as a habit. Art is my little world of rebellion, where I can express my feelings in a way that only I can choose, but one that you can share I am Melinda, mother of 5 and artist. I live and work in the most remote capital city in the world, Perth, Australia. This remote city with an unforgiving climate inspires great creativity. You have to work hard for it here, and it truly brings out the best in the Artist. I am a student of my environment, a scribe, a communicator, a historian, a conduit. A medium and adjudicator. Art inspires me, and in turn I use it to inspire others .My art entices me to find the beauty of even the most mundane. There is none so beautiful as those who see the beauty in all things. Melinda x
Artist:Richard Hammer Title: Sesquipedalium Medium: Stainless Steel, Sheoak Size: 600H, 500W, 500D, (mm) Art descriptionSesquipedalium is a kinetic work that responds chaotically to movement of air. It makes visual the variability of the atmosphere in which we live. The interaction between the atmosphere and everything else comes alive. It awakens our sense of wonder at ordinary everyday air. Busy lives pause to gaze at something different. Near an open window on a windy day it moves continually. Nearby doors opening and closing will shift it. At some sites it's just still. Artist bio Richard Hammer CV (ARTS) Interests My first interest was chaotic, kinetic, wind-driven sculpture. I like the live, unpredictable, almost-interactive aspects. I'm now branching out, exploring other concepts and ideas, including doing some sculpture units at TAFE with Tony Jones. Recent Exhibitor, Bassendean's Sandy Beach Sculpture Park Exhibition, WA, March 2010 and March 2011. Exhibitor, Castaways, Rockingham, WA, May 2009, May 2010 and May 2011. Exhibitor, Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe, March 2008. A small work was exhibited at the inside exhibition, and a large one outside. I designed and fabricated both. Exhibitor, Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi, November 2005. The piece was snapped up by a retired architect who rings me a couple times a year to tell me how much he enjoys it. Exhibitor, other exhibitions in WA. Late 1970's, early 1980's During this time I produced a number of works of computer art, one of which won the inaugural Australian Computer Art Prize (1979). I was also a featured artist in the Spring Festival of Arts, Fremantle Arts Centre (1982). Various drawings were sold to private collectors, and the Australian Computer Society commissioned a drawing which was presented to Sir Charles Court as he opened the annual convention. Education My degrees include a B.A., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Mathematics. In undergraduate art class I made nonsense machines from wood, that actually worked. Inspirations Alexander Calder, George Rickey, Robert Klippel, Jean Tinguely.

  • 17. Artist bio Judy Rogers was born in Hungary, moved to Perth in 1995. She works in the blend(er) gallery, Joondalup as a curator and has an artist studio in the Tresillian Art Centre in Nedlands. • 19. • 21.

  • 27. • 31. Melinda x
