Weather Threat Brief 12-6-13
1. Key Points
•
•
•
•
•
•
: North TX into southern OK into central AR
• Heavy ice accumulations leading to dangerous travel conditions and
possible prolonged power outages
NM, TX/OK Panhandles, Northwest/West/Central TX, the rest of OK and AR
(outside of ice areas) will see winter weather impacts also but power outages are
generally not expected and mostly the impacts will be limited to dangerous
travel conditions
Temperatures will remain below freezing in many areas that were impacted with ice
Thursday – Friday so icy power lines may persist, hampering recovery efforts
Another round of winter precipitation for Northern and Central parts of the Region
Saturday into Sunday
Additional ice accumulations possible over some of same areas impacted Thursday –
Friday but overall additional accumulations look relatively light at this time
Confidence is low for this forecast period
Actual weather should be quiet on Monday but temperatures will remain at/below
freezing in many of the previously impacted areas
