A survey was conducted to understand consumer willingness to pay for drone delivery services. Key findings include:
1. Most consumers are willing to use drone delivery but are not willing to pay more than 30% of an item's value, with most only paying up to 20%.
2. Electronics and gifts are the most desired items for drone delivery within 30 minutes.
3. Emergencies and last-minute gifts are the main reasons consumers would need quick drone delivery and pay higher costs.

About this study
We probed three basic questions:
1.
What’s the maximum amount consumers would be willing to pay for a package delivered by drone?
2.
Under what circumstance would someone need something so quickly that you’d pay top dollar for it?
3.
Which items are most desired to delivered in 30 minutes?

Second, we wanted to know what items consumers would likely purchase and have delivered by drone.
For the survey choice options, we looked
online shopping trends for the most popular categories and top purchase drivers – keeping in mind the items had to fit the following requirements:
1.
The order must also be small enough to fit in the cargo box that the craft will carry
2.
The items must be less than 5 lbs.

Food may not be a good candidate for drone delivery. Whether from the supermarket, mini-mart, fast food joint, or other restaurant, food is generally very inexpensive per pound.
Drone delivery is best suited to high value, lightweight merchandise, including most items at Walgreens, CVS or Rite-Aid, and a meaningful portion of the merchandise at many other large retailers.
