Ohio is the #3 state for manufacturing as a percentage of gross state product, and boasts many high-profile manufacturers. Manufacturing makes of 20 percent of the workforce in 9 of the Columbus Region's 11 counties. Although manufacturing has typically been perceived as nonskilled, low-income work, many of today's manufacturing jobs require college degrees and pay high wages.
