PAS 91
The purpose of this presentation is to provide an introduction to Safety Schemes in Procurement, and to give you an understanding as to how the scheme can benefit you, as a supplier.
With lots of Health & Safety accreditations out there, it can be difficult for suppliers to know which scheme is the right one for them.
There appears to be confusion for Buyers too, and many mandate particular schemes. Some don’t even accept a health & safety accreditation and carry out their assessments in-house.
This means that many suppliers are forced to join multiple schemes to be considered for work by different buyers. Which means; lots of time spent filling out different application forms, paying lots of different assessment fees and maintaining lots of different schemes.
Surely there must be another way: There is - Safety Schemes in Procurement is an umbrella body that provides mutual recognition between different schemes to a stage one assessment level –Appendix 4 of the ACoP od Construction Design & Management Regs 2007. Currently there are 25 member schemes under the umbrella, and by joining just one of these schemes you can demonstrate health & safety competence to stage one.Which means that suppliers can choose the scheme that’s right for their organisation .

There is no additional fee to register with an SSIP scheme member.
SSIP also has powerful support from BIS, HSE, SSIP and PAS 91 so Buyers can be reassured that Suppliers with an SSIP accreditation
