The Diffuser has a myriad of applications including: the drilling industry for clear water drilling applications, stripping applications for whole mud, environmental applications from sump cleanup to plant site systems for feed water clarification, boiler water cleanup and clarification, and also includes brine systems both fresh and chloride saturated. Viscous muds can be run through the system for stripping and it can even be used as a centrifuge feed system if required. It can be used offshore for stripping applications on barges being fed by multiple rigs, or land based clean- up of different types of mud systems and supplying fresh fluid to many concurrent drilling applications.

3. CALX DIFFUSER DRILLING TECHNOLOGY
•The “CALX DIFFUSER” is proprietary technology designed for non viscous drilling fluid, and
the stripping of water based muds for well depths of approximately 15,000 ft.
•With this technology, you have the ability to completely eliminate sumps and greatly reduce
the amount of land spraying processes or land fill processes. It also conserves and recycles water
at the drilling rig thus cutting water consumption virtually in half.
•Surface mud can be stripped and reused for the floc water section. The floc water section is
then drilled and this water is then utilized for make up water on main hole mud section, then
strip back the main hole mud for subsequent use on consecutive wells as required.
•This is done within the parameters of the mud tanks and the diffuser tank thus eliminating any
other requirement of surface tanks or floc tanks.
•We can package all of this for you with our proprietary polymers and advise on other drilling
fluid additives.
4. CALX DIFFUSER PRINCIPLES
•The CALX DIFFUSER is a solids and liquid separation process that utilizes a specific flow
regime, surface area, fluid dynamics, static head pressure, and energy dissipation in place
of retention time and “G” force for the separation process.
•Flow from the drilling rig comes into the receiving tank of the diffuser and is then
pumped by turbulent flow to the diffuser box where the flow changes to laminar.
•At this point, the fluid goes through several changes of direction and is forced to travel in
an upwards direction, which aids in the separation of the solids and the liquid.
•With the addition of proper chemical concentrations, flocculation and coagulation occurs
very rapidly, and the solids drop to the bottom of the diffuser where they are condensed
and can then be discharged at predetermined densities.
5. • The finer solids (colloidal) are then trapped in the extensive surface area of the tube settlers,
(which replaces retention time), at this point the solids agglomerate together and drop out of
the fluid rapidly.
• Clear drilling fluid is then collected and diverted back to the drilling rig for recirculation.
• Make it back to the active system for recirculation and reuse.
6. FEATURES AND BENEFITS
• Processes 100% of flow from the
drilling rig
• 99% solids removal
• Reusable drilling fluid therefore
reduced drilling fluid costs
• Drilled solids are dewatered
• Reduction in disposal costs
• 44%-50% reduction in water & brine
volumes
• Entirely closed loop – managed and
contained
• Small footprint-12’x35’
• Increased ROP
• Shale stability control
• Extended drilling bit life
• The entire well is drilled within the
volume parameters of the rig tanks
and the Diffuser.
