Reference letter for Corey McDaniel
Dear Sir / Madam,
I have had the pleasure of knowing Corey McDaniel for the last 6 months or so. Admittedly not an
eternity, but since we’ve worked closely together AND have been sharing the same house for three
months, I actually feel I know Corey very well.
The letter is obviously about Corey, but just to put things into perspective, allow me to provide a
brief outline of my own career.
Being a Danish citizen and equipped with a Master’s Degree from the Business University of
Copenhagen, Denmark, I’ve worked and lived in 4 different countries (Denmark, Australia, Taiwan
and Hong Kong) until I retired and settled in Phuket, Thailand. My entire career has been dedicated
to sales, marketing and advertising and I’m specialized in the field of Relationship Marketing. During
my 11 years in Hong Kong I got the opportunity to establish an independent Relationship Marketing
agency under the brand umbrella of McCann-Erickson, the largest international communication
conglomerate in the world. From a modest beginning with only one staff (me!) I managed to grow
the business to 50 staff with an enviable client portfolio and extremely healthy financials (20+%
margins). Amongst my major clients were Cathay Pacific, Marriott International, Microsoft, Dell
(database and analytics only), Intel, General Motors, Nestle, Hong Kong Telecom, J&J, Coca-Cola,
HSBC, Dupont, UPS, MasterCard, ABN-AMRO, Black & Decker, Bank of America, Bacardi, Japan
Tobacco and several others. We were also fortunate enough to win a plethora of awards, the most
prestigious one being the International Direct Marketing Association’s Gold ECHO, the highest
accolade in the Relationship Marketing industry worldwide.
In 2007 I retired to Phuket, but have maintained my business network and have regularly taken on
some freelance work and certain projects of interest to me.
Well, more than enough about me, let’s now move on to Mr. McDaniel.
Corey is a very unique individual with a skill set that would be extremely tough to match, if possible
at all. He has a degree in Computer Science (Major) and Psychology (Minor) from his native USA,
where he spent 3 years in the US army and also had several jobs, before he ventured to Asia some 7
years ago. His main hobby is body building and he has successfully established and run his own gym
here in Phuket. He is also highly knowledgeable in terms of nutrition and generic health, part and
parcel of his gym business. Furthermore he has substantial experience in setting up and maintaining
security systems for both companies and private households and I’m fortunate enough to be one of
his satisfied customers. He truly is a technological wizard, it being computers, security systems,
phones, etc.
But there’s much more to Corey. He has an extremely creative mind and having worked with
creative people all over the world for over 25 years, I would rate his conceptual and art direction /
design skills right up there with the best in the industry. Plus he is a decent writer as well. As such,
he has independently built, tested and launched several web sites for a number of companies, and
he is one of the very few people I have ever met, who truly bridges the traditional gap between the
creative execution and the technical elements of a web site. Normally you get one or the other, but
in Corey you get the best of both worlds. To express it differently, Corey as a single individual
combines the creative part of a web site, i.e. design, colours, navigation, branding, etc. with the
more technical aspects such as Search Engine Optimization, visitor tracking (where prospects go on a
site, how much time they spent on each page and so on), response evaluation of specific campaigns
and much more. And in the unfortunate event that the site should crash – as most web sites do from
time to time – Corey is also the man to get it up and running again in no time. What more could
anyone ask for?
Corey is quite a down-to-earth person and most people tend to take an instant liking to him – this is
a real gift. In my view the likability factor is the most underestimated character trade across all
industries when hiring new staff. So people skills galore, not just upwards, but sideways and
downwards as well. He’s a fairly straight-forward, no nonsense individual who will express his
professional views directly and firmly, but always politely and respectfully. He has ambitions and I’d
be extremely surprised, if he does not eventually go the highest levels in whatever field he may
eventually choose. His personality, his commitment and his strong desire to provide the highest
quality of work combined with his never-say-die attitude is un-matched in my book and makes him
an incredibly valuable team player. In general I’ve found Corey to be highly knowledgeable about
most things and his maturity level is miles beyond his relatively tender age. Finally there’s a rather
‘soft’ side to Corey, he really is a very caring and giving human being, who has assisted more people
than I care to think of – without expecting anything in return! That combined with his quick wit and
wicked sense of humour makes it a true pleasure to be in his company.
So is there anything this Corey McDaniel dude can’t do, I hear you ask – like juggling 7 rotten eggs
with one hand only? That one I cannot answer, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he could….
I could go on, but enough said, I think. From the above it should now be totally clear that Corey is a
very unique ‘total package’.
So to any prospective employer I can say this: Hire Corey if you can – he will never let you down
and he will provide a very healthy return on your investment in him!!!
I’d be delighted to elaborate further if required and I can be contacted on phone +66 89 892 4970 or

Sincerely yours,
Henrik Monefeldt
