2. Questions We Chose To
Ask ...
Me and my group have come up with this survey
to gather all information that we need from the public, this
will help us to plan out our music video in detail. With in
this survey, we gave the public open and closed questions,
allowing them to give their own thought and to give us
specific answers on certain areas.
By being able to have more detail and a fixed plan
on what we need to achieve in our research, allows us to
get all the correct genre features that needs to be involved
with in our music video.
Through this survey, we are able to narrow down
who our target audience is, where there enjoyment is and
what they expects to see in this particular genre. By getting
the correct target audience to work towards, this helps us
to design our own music video.
We posted our survey on social network sites
such as Face Book and Twitter. Although we only got 19
results, it gave us the correct information that was needed.
10. Analysing the results of our survey
Our target audience will be male’s between 16- 20, this is the
strongest gender and age range that preferred this type of genre. Males
came out at the top as most of the males liked alternative rap, but the
female only liked a few of the very well known songs or artists.
Most of the males had a common interest in social networking,
sports, food, music, night life, gaming, TV and shopping. A number of
females also shared these interests.
On question four, a higher percentage of the volunteered public
chose to have an equal amount of narrative and performance with in music
videos.
When we asked what was there favourite music video and why it
was, they could describe to us that they love seeing the emotion from the
performers facile feature connecting with the lyrics. They like having a
strong narrative that sets the scene of the story with sharp angled shots to
create the tension or romance.
We have found out that the audience tends to understand the
story through the narrative if the performer is mixed in with the narrative
setting. They also prefer it when the video begins at the same time as the
audio.
11. From collecting information about what people expect to
see in an alternative rap music video, we found out that people will
expect to see a male rapper with a rappers costume ( jackets, one
size too big shirt, loose trousers, branded shoes, snapbacks),
surrounded my seductive, attractive female in skimpy little outfits.
They also expect to see a relationship (story line) between the
female and male rapper, plus the lyrics are shown through a strong
and meaningful visual narrative (males perspective).
People these days tend to look up music videos through
social network such as YouTube, rather than flicking though TV
channels.
