Health is a state of phisical and mental
well being.
Illnes is the oppposite of health.
Symptoms, like coughs, pain or fever , tell
us that our body are ill.

Sleep 8 or 9 hours every night and rest
when we are tired.
Eat a balanced diet.
Eat five meals at day and always eat
breakfast.
Wash our hands before meals and have
a shower every day.
Breathe fresh air and avoid places with
smoke.
4. Non-infectious illnesses have differents
causes . Injuries or poor diet can make us
ill.
Infectious illnesses are caused by harmful
bacteria or viruses. They can be
contagiuos or non contagiuos.
An ill person is contagious when an ill
person transmits the illnes to a healthy
one. Flu and measles are contagiuos
illnesses.

Bacteria are unicellular micro-organisms.
Beneficial bacteria, like the one used in
making yoghurt.
Harmful bacteria that can cause
illnesses. These bacteria are called
pathogenic bacteria.

A virus is not a micro-organism . It causes
infectious illnesses .
We need a microscope to see a virus.
It is not a living thing but it needs ceells to
carry out its life processes

INFECTIOUS ILLNESSES
Pathogenic micro-organisms can enter
our bodies in different ways:
Through de respiratory system
Through the digestive system
Through wounds and cuts in the skin
10. VACCINES
Vaccines introduce into our bodies the
micro-organism or virus that is making us
ill
The body reacts to the virus and
produces substances to destoy it
