Central Region DECA Social-Media Analysis
1. SOCIAL MEDIA ANALYSIS
This document analyzes the Facebook Pages or Groups of state associa-
tions in DECA’s Central Region. Central Region Vice President Micah
Melling collected initial data on these pages/groups on September 30, 2011.
He obtained final data on March 31, 2012 and then performed a quantifiable
analysis of each state’s page. He also conducted an overall review for the
region using the data from each page. Additionally, a brief overview of Twit-
ter accounts in the Central Region is provided.

Overall, we have seen an impressive increase in the social-media presence of
states in DECA’s Central Region. Considering data from all Facebook
Pages/Groups, Central Region DECA saw its Facebook presence increase by
39% from September 30, 2011 to March 31, 2012. Individually, many state
associations saw their number of Facebook “likes” dramatically increase.
Also, the Twitter presence of many state associations in the Central Region is
“up and coming.” Without question, the states in the Central Region continue
to rapidly spread their message using social media.
