2. The Vision
Each child gets a second birth on getting proper
rearing and education just as a girl gets another
birth at marriage by shifting from parents to in-
laws home.
Hence a child’s rearing and education to adulthood
through education must be based on evidence
based ideal curriculum on the pattern of national
curriculum framework prepared by NCERT for
school children in the year 2000.
3. PHYSICAL ACTIVITY PROMOTION
QUOTATIONS

should always find time for daily exercise as one
does for one’s meals”.

4. Introduction
Delors Commission in 1996 has referred
to following four pillars of education for
wholistically balanced education :
1. To know
2. To do
3. To be
4. To live together
5. Just as NASPE (USA) appointed Council
for standardization of P.E.P., has defined
who is a physically education person
(PEP), so should ,we adopt a standard
definition of holistically educated person
as Physically fit, mentally sound, socially
adjusted intellectually focused, spiritually
aligned as explained in next two slides.
6. Definition of Balanced Education (Contd)
(a) Who knows the fact that best personality development
is in one’s own hands through wise daily choices
(Cognitively educated).
(b)Who takes right regular moderate physical activity;
balanced food, right amounts of sleep & rest daily,
and says firm no to SAD i.e. Smoking, excess Alcohol
and Drugs (Physically educated).
(c) Keeps positive attitude, evaluates circumstances and
stimuli in the right perspective (Intellectually
educated).
(d)Keeps cool under all circumstances and controls all
passions & emotions deliberately and favourably w.r.t.
one’s health (Emotionally educated).
7. Definition of Balanced Education (Contd)
(e) Shows right kind of behaviour with others as he
wishes others to do with him/her (Socially
educated).
(f) Remains conscious to be honest, truthful,
trustworthy, kind and altruistic (always think about
the welfare of others including adversaries) by
homeostatic awareness (Spiritually educated).
(g) Learns atleast one professional or vocational skill
(Occupationally educated).
(h) Keeps the human surroundings, both-internal &
external neat, green and clean and healthy
(Environmentally educated).
8. Missing Core Curriculum-I
Unfortunately, we, educationists are struck in a
traffic-jam situation and are not able to
implement even UNESCO’s Delors
Commission report on balanced education of
four pillars.
9. Missing Core Curriculum-II
Uniform curriculum and model of core
instructions is required to give second birth to
the newborn child by proper balanced
education. Inspite of the fact that philosophers
like Sri Aurobindo, Swami Vivekananda and
Mahatma Gandhi have amply emphasized the
importance of balanced education of the body
and mind.
10. Unbalanced Education
Just as we discuss the implications of
unbalanced food, we should think seriously
about the implications of currently followed
unbalanced education. In order to do that,
we need to know first the meaning and
components of balanced education.
11. Balanced Education
To start with we may balance our education by
making it a criterion measurement of higher
education. In other words first degree courses or
Bachelors programmes must include (without the
intervention of the Supreme Court of India who had
to teach the universities to include a paper on
Environmental Studies in each bachelor degree
course) at least few credits to each domain of
education usually represented as Cognitive Domain,
Psychomotor Domain, Spiritual Domain and
Affective Domain (CAPS) so as to produce better
qualified teachers.
13. Phys.Edu.- Core of Education
Interestingly, all the four domains
of learning(To Know, To Do, To Be,
To Live Together) are obligatory
only in physical education, where
sports training is given with all the
above four domains, and where
competitions help in getting
practical training of all the four .
14. Concept-1
Physical Activity is the foundation
(the roots) of all education but the
fundamentals of needs, techniques
and motivations to adopt active.
15. Concept-2
The higher education (i.e. college &
university education) of he learner is
marred by self deception of remaining
inside the box and hence has remained
blind to the real problem. The real problem
is that we are imparting ineffective
education to our youth without considering
personal physical activity requirements.
16. Concept-3
Balanced education or ideal undergraduate
core education must be standardized by a
single definition based on various domains
in the required ratio which should form an
international yardstick and benchmark
meaning of education without having any
alternative definition to be accepted by the
so called autonomous universities. The
autonomy cannot end up two and two make
something else than four.
17. Concept-4
Physical Activity and SPORTS form
Human Environment. The
Environment paper being introduced
on the behest of Supreme Court of
India should also include human
internal and external environments for
wholistic personality development.
18. Concept-5
Oxygen is Internal Environment. The
internal human environment is
maintained mainly by oxygen provided
through physical activity and sports
which needs to be thoroughly told to
all, for teaching adequate exercises to
make O2 available to all cells of the
body.
19. Concept-6
Physical Activity and SPORTS as External
Environment. The external human
environment is greatly affected by social
interaction promoted through sports and
the physical activity infrastructure creation
to reduce inactivity pollution which has
become a pandemic phenomenon in
modern world.
20. Concept-7
Teaching Modern Food Pyramid. The
teaching of food pyramid should also
include oxygen as a nutrient obtained
through physical activity & outdoor
sports of three categories – namely,
Cardio-respiratory, Weight (Muscular)
and Flexibility (Stretching) exercises.
22. Factual Statement-1
Inactivity environment and absence of
activity promoting infrastructure is
pandemic and highest level of
environmental pollution abstracting
the normal growth and development of
human beings. This is the single
largest cause for 23 fatal diseases
presented in Figure.
23. Factual Statement-2
There is presently enough evidence
that calorie intake is to be based on
one’s daily energy output and that
energy output is mainly variable
due to individual differences in
daily physical activities.
25. Factual Statement-4
Hardly 30% of the universities in India are
aware about physical activity education.
This statement is based on the evidence that
only 30% universities deal with the award of
even B.P.Ed. The one year degree essential to
produce physical education teachers. What
to talk of M.P.Ed. (two year masters course
of physical education).

28. How to Achieve Goals :
Past Mistakes
The fact of sun-centered solar system was
discovered by Copernicus in 1540 what he
was wise not to publically publish it to
avoid punishment on the charges of heresy
by the then authorities and Bruino Borden
was burned alive in 1600 for following
Copernicus discovery of the earth revolving
round the Sun.
29. True Researchers Punished
Galeio Gali was kept under house arrest
for many years for discovering and
advocating Copernicus’s view point of
Heliocentric solar system. It took more
than 200 years to realize the benefit of
factual knowledge that earth is a planet
in the solar system.
30. Epilogue
As an architect determines the shape and
quality of the buildings, a good teacher
determines the shape and quality of
education being imparted to youth in the
colleges. Hence, we must provide physical
activity education to all teacher training
courses and to all school students for
producing competent and better qualified
youth.
31. Health & P.E.T.
Only Physical Education
Teacher(P.E.T.) can provide
preventive health education due to
his expertise in physical activity
technology education. S/he may
properly protect children and
adults from 23 fatal inactivity
diseases described in earlier slides.
32. Physical Fitness & P.E.T.
Only Physical Education Teacher(P.E.T.) can
provide fitness education including health
related physical fitness and skill related
fitness. S/he alone can teach physical fitness
to children and adults.
33. Wellness & P.E.T.
Only Physical Education Teacher(P.E.T.)
can teach wellness that is self –
responsibility to take right daily decisions
both about physical activity and foods and
thus to maintain one’s health and
happiness.
34. Let Us Implement The Truth
We should learn from past mistakes
explained in earlier slides and shoul
immediately implement the truth
known about the potentials of physical
education. We should prove the
strengths of P.E.T.s mentioned above in
concepts and evidences (Fact State-
ments).
35. All Depends On Proving Our Worth
For saving the society from unbalanced
education being imparted to children
and undergraduate students, we will
have to show the results of our
voluntary take up of the challenge of
giving balanced education in physical
education paper being taught at all
levels.

45. Conclusions
This would mean that each Physical Education
Teacher must practice some of the following easy
and objective evaluation procedures of physical
health status of children in schools:-
1.Age related growing of child’s BMI.
2.Age changes in absolute height. Age linked velocity
of height.
3.Prediction of adult height of boys at 8 -11 years and
of girls at 7-10 year in girls.
4.One week’s Records of PA and Food taken by
children.

46. Let Us Take The Challenge On Oath
Let us take this challenge by taking an oath that
we will prove our worth by learning and
teaching the balanced physical education to
children who are currently being taught by
unbalanced education that is education ,not
including physical activity technology of HELP
