COMMENTS: (strengths, areas for growth, next steps):
Dave has demonstrated the qualities of a competent, caring and effective teacher. He has taught lessons in
Language Arts, Music, Mathematics and Science. He has planned creative lessons using the Full Day
Learning Program Document as his guide. It has been a pleasure to watch his enthusiasm and commitment
to teaching Kindergarten students. The students have responded well to his words of encouragement,
descriptive feedback and high expectations. Over the five weeks, Dave has used all of his time effectively to
complete the many required jobs and tasks. He has added to our learning environment with creative bulletin
boards, provocations, new centres and fun activities pertaining to our learning goals. He planned and
completed a unit on two and three dimensional shapes and the students enjoyed his developmentally
appropriate and hands on activities. Dave has gone the extra mile each day by volunteering more of his time
with the students during the lunch hour and assisting during our Carnival, Movie Night, Kindergarten
meetings and Professional Learning Community. In addition, Dave has been eager to make positive
connections with the students, parents, and team of educators in the classroom. His eagerness and flexibility
each day along with his task oriented approach have proven his ability to be an effective leader and primary
teacher. Continue to reflect on your teaching practice and seek out strong mentors in the years ahead. Mr.
Hallas would be a positive and valuable addition to any school. Good luck in your future teaching career!
