2. “financing the greener future of the UK”
Every hour enough solar energy reaches the earth to meet the world’s
energy needs for a full year. If only we could start to harness more of the
suns energy and use less of the worlds limited natural resources, the
better the world would be.
As a result of the Governments renewable energy strategy, UK builders
through strict building regulations are constructing new factories, offices
and warehouses which have the ability to generate a proportion of the
energy they consume from renewable sources. Local authorities set firm
criteria and enforce this through the planning approval process and
BREEAM regulations. Business owners are making the investment to
install systems retrospectively; the result is frequently that solar PV is the
most practical and cost effective option for micro-generation and the only
one that can be rolled out at scale.
We are committed to making as big a contribution as possible towards
protecting the worlds energy resources. The installation of PV systems on
new build commercial property has become reasonably commonplace.
However, we are working closely with a number of the UK’s largest groups
to meet their renewable energy requirements through the installation of
solar systems on their existing buildings. We expect to have installed more
that 20MWs of solar PV by the end of 2015, whilst at the same time
completing over 6000 social housing PV installations.
By getting involved in this investment opportunity you will be
assisting us in financing the greener future of the UK through the
continuation of one of the first rooftop lease initiatives.
We do hope that you will share the benefits of our experience in the
renewable industry and we very much look forward to this being another of
many more similar opportunities in both small and large scale solar
investment.

3. DOES MY BUSINESS QUALIFY FOR A
FREE GREEN INVESTMENT?
All qualifications are subject to:
Site Survey
Cost Evaluation (DNO Approval)
Planning Approval (were required)
DO I OWN A COMMERCIAL OR INDUSTRIAL STRUCTURE?
You can still qualify for Green Energy Investment Fund if you lease your
premises as long as you can obtain the owners consent.
DO I HAVE A SUITABLE ROOF?
Your roof must face between East - South - West. You require a roof area
that is capable of withstanding extra load (structural survey provided)
DO I USE A LARGE AMOUNT OF ELECTRICITY DURING
DAYLIGHT HOURS?
The more you use the more you save.
WOULD THIS DISRUPT THE DAY TO DAY RUNNING
OF MY BUSINESS?
All of our installations are scheduled to suit your day-to-day operation.
With 80% of the work carried out on the roof little is ever seen or heard of our
Installers. Solarking guarantee to have no electricity down time throughout
the entire project.’

3 - 5 DAYS
We gather data on:
The Building Structure

Electrical Systems
The Connection to the Grid
We also undertake searches and credit checks.
6 WEEKS
We design the system, ensuring any planning
permissions and grid agreement are in place.
Final documents are signed, components are
ordered and we prepare for installation.
2 - 4 WEEKS
Access (scaffold or other) are prepared.
External works:
Mounting system and panels
Internal works include:
Cabling, inverters, meters, circuit
boards and switches
25 YEARS
Once operational, you will be issued with a
commissioning pack. You will also have online
anytime access to SolarKing Connect, where
you can monitor the output of the system and
access other documents.
5. Our energy PPA is an easy way of converting your business to a low cost clean electricity supply that offers
no up-front cost incurred by you.
We install, own and maintain the system on your roof for free; you will only pay for the electricity you use
each month, at an agreed rate per kWh. Any electricity you don’t consume we sell into the grid.
Green Energy PPA works in parallel with your existing electricity supply arrangement - there is no need to
change anything as you will continue to buy electricity above what the solar system supplies to you.
The Green Energy PPA term is 25 years; after this period the solar system becomes the property of the
owner of the building. Alternatively you can choose to extend your Green Energy PPA and we will remove it
at the end of the extended term.
Working with us means that you only ever have one company to deal with throughout the life of the
projects, from development and construction through to operations and maintenance.
We take care of all development aspects of the project, including any planning permission requirements
and authorisations from your utility company.
HOW DO WE DO IT
UNDER THE GREEN ENERGY PPA WE GUARANTEE:
To insure, maintain, and repair the system at
no cost to you throughout the term.
The system’s electricity production
throughout the term.
To repair your roof if the system causes any
damage or leaks.
The system will become the property of the
owner of the building.
6. INCENTIVES AND REDUCED ENERGY BILLS
TYPICAL EXAMPLE
GETTING THE JOB DONE
The initial survey confirmed that the
building orientation was ideally situated
with a south facing roof and that it
could potentially accommodate an
array of approximately 100kWh.
With an agreement in principle the de-
tailed designs and fixed costs could
begin.
FREE SURVEY FREE DESIGN
Detailed design works were carried out by SolarKing Commercial
technicians and covered the following items
Site and Workface access survey.
Structural and Stress analysis survey.
Planning and Lawful development applications.
DNO (Distribution Network Operator consultation and
mitigation.
PV Sol performance and ROI reports
SolarKing Commercial’s installation and project management team completed the 100kWh installation within
3 weeks including connection to the grid and commissioning. The work was carried out during operational
hours with zero down time to staff and operations. Effective project and man management enabled the
Installation commissioning, DNO grid connection, witness testing and final handover to happen on time and
on budget.

7. CASE STUDY
COMMERCIAL
Home Farm
Lathom, Lancashire
Home Farm is an expanding dairy farm in Lancashire which was planning to build a new state
of the art milking shed to accommodate their growing dairy herd.
The cost of energy was a key consideration for farmer Richard Corlett, as he explains:
Rothwell Mushroom Farm
Ormskirk, Lancashire
“After deciding to increase my dairy herd from 80 to 150 cows, it was imperative that the business considered the impact
of the corresponding increase in energy consumption and cost. Having looked at various renewable technologies, Solar
PV stood out as the most beneficial for my business and produced the best long-term investment. After sourcing a few
quotations, I decided to place an order with SolarKing, as I was impressed with the quality of their product, the level of
service they offer, which was more than very competitive.
The 50Kwp installation went very smoothly, despite severe weather conditions and the team did a great job which I was
more than satisfied with. The SolarKing Commercial team also delivered on their promise to provide a fully managed,
end-to-end service by dealing with the grid operator on my behalf and they even helped me to register the system for the
Feed-in Tariff with my supplier on completion of the installation.”
The business process is a major consumer of electricity, having a base
load rating of over 240kW. This prompted a thorough review of renewable
energy options to reduce the increasing energy costs. One of the
decisions taken was to install a 50kW solar PV array on a concrete base
ground mount system to generate electricity.
Solarking Commercial was chosen to supply and install this system with a
brief to get the system installed before a deadline. The total end to end
approach supplied by Solarking Commercial where every aspect of the
project is planned and executed by our experienced and professional
personnel. The installation was up and working 2 weeks ahead of sched-
ule which delighted the Directors of Rothwell’s.
“We were delighted with the thorough and professional approach of Solarking Commercial on this key project. We had set them a difficult task
in terms of timescale and by changing the site of the installation part way through the planning and design stage. Solarking Commercial coped
with all this and the most appalling weather conditions, to deliver a perfect installation, ahead of schedule which meant we could achieve the
higher Feed in Tariff. We would have no hesitation recommending any business to work with Solarking Commercial.”
