SURFconext is a central authentication and authorization service that connects users to various learning environments and services. It acts as a central hub, using standards like SAML, LDAP, and APIs to enable single sign-on. This allows users from different colleges and universities to securely access resources regardless of where they are institutionally affiliated. SURFconext also provides centralized group management through inter-institutional groups like SURFteams, enabling collaboration across organizations. Its open and lightweight integration approach uses open standards and specifications to facilitate bringing together applications from multiple vendors into a single portal.
