the membership usage and stakeholder engagement in
the Yorkshire and the Humber region
in 2015.
eWIN is an established portal providing workforce and
education information – it has seen many developments
over the years, and has developed to flex and adapt to
the structural changes in the NHS, social care and health
education.

•	 Allowing users to share information and good practice
•	 Online support networks
•	 Central Repository – Resources, Events, News
A publically accessible website welcoming anyone from a
health and social care background. NHS, Local Authority,
voluntary/3rd sector or private provider, commissioning
groups including Area Teams, CCG’s and CSU’s, training
providers such as universities, schools and colleges can join
and have access to all the tools and resources, Communities
and groups.
eWIN Groups in Y&H Region
eWIN Groups are formed to allow a collection of individuals
working together online with the following benefits:

Groups can choose to be public, or they can elect to be
private so that new members need to apply to join, and
access the group’s plans and discussions is ‘members only’.

Groups in YH Region
Once again Yorkshire and the Humber region lead the way
with embracing online groups in 2015, as an opportunity for
a regional forum as an open communication platforms to
programme share, raise awareness, ask questions, give advice,
engage and improve communications.
•	 Supporting their networks with an online interactive
group for members with ownership and delivery through
self-management of group moderators.
•	 The unique features of the groups enables users to
provide a repository of information, knowledge sharing
whilst supporting the development of quality assurance
with the benefit of providing members discussion forums
for the group to engage.
•	 Allowing individuals who are part of hosted functions
or teams to share information and resources to support
effective engagement and to identify opportunities for
joint working, where appropriate.
•	 Enabling HEE teams to work together towards their
common aims - to improve the quality of education and
training outcomes to meet the needs of patients, the
public and service providers in our areas.
•	 Engage and discuss various issues, work together to solve
problems, share notable practice and innovative ideas,
and upload documents for others to use.
•	 Education providers in partnership with HEE and other
colleagues with an aim to develop the strategic direction
for education, training and continuing professional
development across Yorkshire and the Humber.
•	 Regional collaborative working on a number of national
projects to help improve learning and development.
•	 Specific groups where students can engage during
training with both learners and tutors to share
experiences and feedback.

Celebrate the success of eWIN in 2015
As eWIN is now available to anyone in a health and social care
environment as a way to engage this offers opportunities for
project groups to have an online secure location to share and
engage.
•	 A communication platform to support integrated
planning, staff engagement and partnership working.
•	 Continues to evolve and develop in coordination with
local needs for workforce intelligence.
•	 Encourage and facilitate good practice in a culture of
continuous improvement
•	 Centralise workforce documentation and resources for
easy access
•	 Supporting networking across organisations and
communities
•	 Providing a platform to share knowledge about new and
different ways of working
Since its launch eWIN has continued to develop to meet the
needs of its users in terms of content, best practice, tools and
resources and online support groups.

eWIN provides a repository of valuable workforce indicators,
best practice and modelling tools.

and supporting newly qualified graduates.

“An innovative, adaptable and efficient web based
solution to meet the workforce intelligence needs of
members to support improved patient care”
eWIN was developed in collaboration with NHS HR,
Workforce and Finance communities, including; workforce
planners and analysts, HR and OD professionals and
managers, service and delivery leads.
However, eWIN has continued to expand since its
establishment and has been tailored to meet the needs of
its users and continues to engage with Equality and Diversity
leads, Health and Well Being leads, and nursing staff amongst
many more groups.
The success in our region through collaborative partnership
working with super users and group moderators who
encourage the drive of eWIN membership within their
organisation through new user registrations.
Continued contribution knowledge and suggestions to shape
how eWIN can continue to be utilised as a communication
platform to improve engagement and partnership working
across organisations.
Support and drive a culture of shared knowledge and learning
through best practice sharing and learning.

Stakeholder Usage via Google Analytical (GA)
In Yorkshire and the Humber region GA provide tracking as a
high-level view of how many individual people have visited
the site and membership usage for each online group.

Knowledge Exchange
The Knowledge Exchange is a centralised repository of
information and resources for easy access. It includes good
practice material and case studies from member NHS
organisations, commissioned pieces of research, summaries
of relevant academic research, documentation and resources
of relevance to the workforce community.
The user can either browse a category or search for a
particular resource.
Sharing Best Practice
Best practice can be shared in a number of ways dependent
on its content as each one is unique.
Case Study, Inspiring Story, Hot Topic, Overview,
Organisation Overview, Project Snapshot, Team Overview
eWIN Case Study Guide was developed as a framework for
best practice examples.
There is a wealth of excellent workforce practice,
development and improvement happening across Yorkshire
and the Humber.

eWIN - Looking back at 2015 v1.4 Final

Welcome to the latest overview to celebrate success of the membership usage and stakeholder engagement in the Yorkshire and the Humber region in 2015. eWIN is an established portal providing workforce and education information – it has seen many developments over the years, and has developed to flex and adapt to the structural changes in the NHS, social care and health education. • One stop shop for workforce related intelligence • Allowing users to share information and good practice • Online support networks • Central Repository – Resources, Events, News A publically accessible website welcoming anyone from a health and social care background. NHS, Local Authority, voluntary/3rd sector or private provider, commissioning groups including Area Teams, CCG’s and CSU’s, training providers such as universities, schools and colleges can join and have access to all the tools and resources, Communities and groups. eWIN Groups in Y&H Region eWIN Groups are formed to allow a collection of individuals working together online with the following benefits: • Forums • Members list • Latest activity – forum posts • Tools & resources • News & Events Groups can choose to be public, or they can elect to be private so that new members need to apply to join, and access the group’s plans and discussions is ‘members only’.   • 2. www.ewin.nhs.uk @eWIN_Portal Groups in YH Region Once again Yorkshire and the Humber region lead the way with embracing online groups in 2015, as an opportunity for a regional forum as an open communication platforms to programme share, raise awareness, ask questions, give advice, engage and improve communications. • Supporting their networks with an online interactive group for members with ownership and delivery through self-management of group moderators. • The unique features of the groups enables users to provide a repository of information, knowledge sharing whilst supporting the development of quality assurance with the benefit of providing members discussion forums for the group to engage. • Allowing individuals who are part of hosted functions or teams to share information and resources to support effective engagement and to identify opportunities for joint working, where appropriate. • Enabling HEE teams to work together towards their common aims - to improve the quality of education and training outcomes to meet the needs of patients, the public and service providers in our areas. • Engage and discuss various issues, work together to solve problems, share notable practice and innovative ideas, and upload documents for others to use. • Education providers in partnership with HEE and other colleagues with an aim to develop the strategic direction for education, training and continuing professional development across Yorkshire and the Humber. • Regional collaborative working on a number of national projects to help improve learning and development. • Specific groups where students can engage during training with both learners and tutors to share experiences and feedback. • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Enable the sharing of best practice, challenges and learning from efficiencies, improvements and achievements made.
  • 3. www.ewin.nhs.uk @eWIN_Portal Celebrate the success of eWIN in 2015 As eWIN is now available to anyone in a health and social care environment as a way to engage this offers opportunities for project groups to have an online secure location to share and engage. • A communication platform to support integrated planning, staff engagement and partnership working. • Continues to evolve and develop in coordination with local needs for workforce intelligence. • Encourage and facilitate good practice in a culture of continuous improvement • Centralise workforce documentation and resources for easy access • Supporting networking across organisations and communities • Providing a platform to share knowledge about new and different ways of working Since its launch eWIN has continued to develop to meet the needs of its users in terms of content, best practice, tools and resources and online support groups. How does eWIN aid workforce planning? eWIN provides a repository of valuable workforce indicators, best practice and modelling tools. • Technology & Innovation - continuously adapting online resources and network groups. • Matching supply and demand - education commissioning and supporting newly qualified graduates. • Demographic change: - ageing population; increased demand on NHS services - ageing workforce; difficulties in recruitment and retention • Knowledge Exchange - Search real case studies and research demonstrating best practice in workforce planning • Benchmarking - Access to a core set of key workforce indicators, scenario modelling tools and benchmarking functionality
  • 4. www.ewin.nhs.uk @eWIN_Portal “An innovative, adaptable and efficient web based solution to meet the workforce intelligence needs of members to support improved patient care” eWIN was developed in collaboration with NHS HR, Workforce and Finance communities, including; workforce planners and analysts, HR and OD professionals and managers, service and delivery leads. However, eWIN has continued to expand since its establishment and has been tailored to meet the needs of its users and continues to engage with Equality and Diversity leads, Health and Well Being leads, and nursing staff amongst many more groups. The success in our region through collaborative partnership working with super users and group moderators who encourage the drive of eWIN membership within their organisation through new user registrations. Continued contribution knowledge and suggestions to shape how eWIN can continue to be utilised as a communication platform to improve engagement and partnership working across organisations. Support and drive a culture of shared knowledge and learning through best practice sharing and learning. Communication Platform A communication platform to support integrated planning, staff engagement and partnership working and drive a culture of knowledge sharing and learning which stimulates continued innovation. Stakeholder Usage via Google Analytical (GA) In Yorkshire and the Humber region GA provide tracking as a high-level view of how many individual people have visited the site and membership usage for each online group.
  • 5. www.ewin.nhs.uk @eWIN_Portal Knowledge Exchange The Knowledge Exchange is a centralised repository of information and resources for easy access. It includes good practice material and case studies from member NHS organisations, commissioned pieces of research, summaries of relevant academic research, documentation and resources of relevance to the workforce community. The user can either browse a category or search for a particular resource. Sharing Best Practice Best practice can be shared in a number of ways dependent on its content as each one is unique. Case Study, Inspiring Story, Hot Topic, Overview, Organisation Overview, Project Snapshot, Team Overview eWIN Case Study Guide was developed as a framework for best practice examples. There is a wealth of excellent workforce practice, development and improvement happening across Yorkshire and the Humber. Want to share your best practice but unsure where to start!
