GLOBAL WARMING
Introduction
CAUSES OF GLOBAL WARMING Natural Man-made
Natural Climate change The rotation of the earth Volcanoes Change in ocean currents Solar cycles and sunspots
Humancauses Power plants 2.Cars 3.Fertilizers 4.Deforestation 5.Ozone depletion
GREENHOUSE EFFECT The greenhouse effect occurs when certain gases in the atmosphere trap infrared radiation. This effect makes the planet warmer. When their is more greenhouse gases in the air, the air holds more heat. This is why more greenhouse gases cause global warming.
GREENHOUSE GASES The greenhouse effect is caused due greenhouse gases such as : ,[object Object]
Methane
CFCs
Nitrous oxide,[object Object]
Deforestation and plant burning (20-25%).Average time in the troposphere is 50-500 years.
LAYERS OF ATMOSPHERE
Methane (CH4): ,[object Object]
Average time of methane in troposphere is 9-15 years.,[object Object]
Nitrous oxide (N2O) : ,[object Object],stock wastes, and nylon production. ,[object Object],[object Object]
EFFECTS OF GLOBAL WARMING Climate change on human society Effects on plants and animals Effects on human being and health Effects on sea level Heat waves
EFFECTS OF GLOBAL WARMING 6. Ozone becomes harmful 7. Economic consequences 8. Disappearance of coral reefs 9. More killer storms 10.Effect on agriculture
Kyoto protocol ,[object Object]
The protocol was developed under the UNFCCC – the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change .
The participant countries should cut down the emission of greenhouse gases like : carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, hydro fluorocarbons, per fluorocarbons, sulphur hexafluoride. ,[object Object]
FACTS ON GLOBAL WARMING
What will happen if global warming is allowed to continue ?
If worlds warms by : 10c : climate will become intolerable
20c : Ocean life in danger
30c : heat waves fatalities
40c : great cities wash away
50c : civilization collapses
60C : Mass extinction occurs
