A Preparation Checklist
When preparing for a negotiation, use this
checklist to create a winning strategy.

By failing to prepare you are preparing to
fail.“
Preparation is key.
Start with a win-win mindset, and then follow these 8 steps.
✔ Obtain buy-in from
top management and internal
customers.
✔ Identify your suppliers.
✔ Research the supplier’s company.
✔ Review the supplier’s past
performance.
✔ Anticipate the supplier’s agenda.
✔ Set your goals and least
acceptable alternatives.
✔ Decide on a negotiation strategy
(but be prepared to change as
necessary).
✔ Create an agenda for the
negotiation and run through it with
your team.
