When we were working, with students, on computer for giving information of Design For Change Campaign a girl, named Tannu said, “We are learning computer but my Mother did not know about even alphabets because she is illiterate” . Tannu describes an incidence few days before when my mother came back from her uncle’s village to her home, she faced a problem to find out her bus because she could not read the sign board on bus. My Mother asked to many passengers but every one was in hurry. One more incident was shared by students. They said that when their mothers come to the school for parents-teachers meeting, they use thumb despite sign. We felt very dishonorable because even in 21 st century our mothers are illiterate. Tannu’s and other students innocent replies really struck the core of our heart. Then students have decided to work on this burning issue with.

9. By a discussion with students, we came to know about this fundamental issue of society. Then finally we decided to go forward in this direction, so that we can give literacy to underprivileged women of rural area and Schedule caste and Other backward class woman should be a part of this campaign. To achieve our goal we have design a campaign named “ MAA KE AKSHAR” . We have planed to start this campaign from 25st sep. during the Girl Child Campaign.

Group Formation Our school has a House System, A House System will be followed in all Satya Bharti Schools with the purpose of helping students of various ages acquire a sense of belonging in order to build values such as loyalty, togetherness, caring, sharing and camaraderie. we divided all student in three groups named SHAKTI-VAIBHAV and SHANTI ,according to age, skill and gender. Each group has a leader and sub leader. We selected 21 students for our project according to skill and gender of class 4th to 5th. Each group has 7 volunteer and a group leader.
12. Survey We divided whole village in three region according to three groups. Students were used random sampling, a tool used for survey. Students specially visit SC and OBC houses , because our objective is to teach underprivileged illiterate women. During the survey work our student used stamp pad and paper slips for identification. Students were putting their thumb or sign on slips and dropped them in drop boxes. They have done a survey of 70 houses in four days. When the student were consolidating their data, it was found that out of 70 women 59 were illiterate. This result required some action to reduce the illiteracy from rural community.
13. Meeting with mothers A meeting was planed with mothers to deciding the venue for their literacy classes. We proposed “CHOUPAL” for meeting. Choupal means a common place for meetings in villages. All the issues are discussed and solved in Choupal. when our students invite to mothers for meeting then they denied the proposal and they says, “we are not allowed in Choupal, only men can be entered in it”. To resolve the venue problem Rekha Devi agreed to provide her House for literacy classes. After that we take time for classes because they all are house wife's and they don’t have enough time for literacy classes. Finally they have decided their rest time from 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm to use for learn their names.
14. Literacy classes started on 15 sept,09. On the first day only 7 women came in class to learn their name. when our students talk for other mothers they said that this was not their right age to getting education. We have don’t lose our passion and we decided to start our classes at the strength of 7. Students carried slates and chalk from school. Firstly student helped their mothers for how to grip the chalk and give them practice for slotting lines. After that students write their mothers name on slats and mothers doing overwriting for strokes recognition. Their confidence was built up day by day. They were told their experience and achievement to other women those were not came due to hesitation then our strength increased day by day. Ultimately we started with 7 women and after 15 day we have built a competency of writing their name to 50 illiterate women. Our Classless
16. Slogan writing Slogans were made by students themselves and were writing on street wall. They used ink and wooden pencil for writing. During the slogan writing by our students a person told to our students " why are you wasting your time, and can’t do this job” because women works to cook food for family & take care of livestock and her house. Our student can not disturb by the comments of the person and do their work with more energy. By this activity they were encouraging society for women literacy.
18. Street Play A street play was prepare with the help of teacher. The play was divided in three parts. In the play it was shown that how a illiterate women was cheated by a shopkeeper due to illiteracy. When a illiterate women got a letter, then she always give one Rs to read this letter. This play spared a good message to community for illiterate women because they saw life like situation in the play. Students presenting the play on women literacy
20. Rally for Girl Child Education Banners and place cards were made by students. A rally was marched in whole village with the help of all students and teachers. Student were raising slogans and the focus were on girl child. This activity empower our campaign to a Strength.
21. Muniadi by Village Temple MUNIADI – It is the way of passing any message in whole village. You can go in temple and there was a sound system and you can pass your message with the help of mike. Our student were used this another type of communication tool with the help of temple Pujari and Sarpanch.
22. Case Study A women Ramrati Devi was passing through our venue. She is a Bengal seller. She stopped there to find out, why these women are gathering there. Our student told her about the project and she was so impressed that she at once sit in our class and started learning. Her life was so busy but she daily came in our classes. She told us about her tragic life and motivate us. She said this is beneficial for their business and also said there is no age for learning. Our role model

25. The road ahead………. AS per the completion of our project ,we decide to take step in this direction. we extend our project ,so the now the literate women can get basic education. We prepared a schedule for literate women with the help of students. we decided to start weakly classes for them. Ultimately our destination is that, the mothers who has come in parents teacher meeting can get basic knowledge of computer.
