- Cerebral Palsy is a movement disorder. CP is also known as ‘static encephalopathy.’ It is caused by brain damage that occurs before, during, or just after birth. A person with CP is often also affected by other conditions caused by brain damage, such as motor skills.
- In the United States, about 2-3 children per 1000 have Cerebral Palsy. As many as 1,000,000 people of all ages are affected, both male and female.
- Prevention: mother having good nutrition, no smoking, alcohol or drug use, try to prevent head injury by using all safety equipment while the child is in the car or riding a bike.10% to 20% of children with CP acquire if after birth, caused by brain damage.
