4. Turkey
WFP, along with the Turkish Red Crescent, distributes
electronic food cards, with each Syrian family member
receiving a card loaded with 80 Turkish liras ($45) per month,
enough to buy 2,100 kilocalories per person per day.
5. Lebanon
WFP mainly provides food vouchers of $27 per month to each Syrian
refugee, to redeem food items of their choice including fresh produce,
dairy products, vegetables and fruits, meat, chicken and fish, with total
daily per person kilocalories of 2,100. It has begun transitioning to plastic
e-cards containing the same value as the vouchers.
Unregistered families receive monthly dry rations of 43 kilograms of oil,
cheese, tuna, coffee, canned meat, pasta, halava, wheat flour, lentils,
bulgur, beans, dry pulses, rice and sugar.
6. Jordan
Syrian refugees in all Jordanian governorates receive food vouchers of
$34 to buy 2,100 kilocalories of food per person daily.
But in Zaatari camp, WFP provides food rations amounting to the same
kilocalories, distributes more than 25 metric tons bread per day – or about
half a million portions of flat bread – and ready-to-eat meals to new
arrivals, as well as runs a school feeding program. It has begun
distributing vouchers so refugees can buy food inside the camp.
7. Iraq
Each refugee receives food vouchers of $31 a month,
sufficient to buy 2,400 kilocalories of food per day.
8. Egypt
WFP offers food vouchers of $30 per month so each person
can acquire 2,100 kilocalories of food daily.
