1. KVC is excited to announce the keynote speaker for its 2015 Resource Family
Conference!
Veteran newsman Dominic Carter, who was in foster care as a child, is one of
the most compelling journalists of his generation, and has been described as
the best political reporter working in New York television today. Carter has
been a fixture in the TV news industry for the last 25 years, currently working
as a Political Commentator at Verizon FiOS/RNN-TV.
2. During his tenure in TV, Carter has moderated high profile debates with Hillary
Clinton and former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. He has appeared on
numerous national TV programs like “Face the Nation,” “Hardball with Chris
Matthews,” CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News. Carter also does radio work as one
of the co-hosts on NY’s flagship talk station, WABC Radio.
Carter’s work has brought him a measure of prominence for his numerous
exclusive interviews; they include former President Bill Clinton to the late
Nelson Mandela during Mandela’s historic 1990 visit to the United States – an
interview he conducted as thousands of journalists from around the country
pursued the South African president. He has interviewed Caroline Kennedy
and Donald Trump numerous times.
Carter’s work has also been profiled in the Washington Post. As a victim of
childhood sexual abuse, Carter’s life story has been told in O, The Oprah
Magazine and on the television show of Nancy Grace. He also released a
book on his life titled No Momma’s Boy, which chronicles his triumphant
struggle to overcome his mother’s mental illness as a chronic paranoid
schizophrenic and years of shocking childhood abuse while growing up in the
housing projects in the notorious South Bronx, New York.
Carter is also a writer for the Huffington Post, and is known for articles such
as, Foster Parents Are Making the World A Better Place. Carter knows in his
heart that foster parents and the social workers that assist them are all
“angels on Earth.”
KVC’s 2015 Resource Family Conference will take place December 11-12 at
three locations across the country: the Sheraton Overland Park Hotel in
Overland Park, Kan; Omaha, Neb.; and Daniels, W.Va. The event is a one-of-
a-kind training opportunity for foster families who are caring for children who
