• IMAN or faith (in Islam) is to believe upon Allah
(SWT), angels, scriptures, messengers, Day of
Judgment, decree of Allah in good or bad
(situations). (Muslim)
• Aqeedah refers to those matters which are
believed in, with certainty and conviction, in one’s
heart and soul.
• The Arabic word ‘aqeedah stems from the root
‘aqada, which conveys meanings of certainty,
affirmation, confirmation, etc
• ‘Aqeedah is a matter of knowledge which the
Muslim is obliged to believe in his heart
• Allah has told about these matters in Quran or
through the Revelation to His Messenger
Mohammad (SAW)
Belief out of
custom
Strong faith
and
conviction
Perfection of
faith and
conviction
• People fall into many categories regarding the
strength or weakness of their beliefs.
• 1-Some accepted those beliefs out of custom. Such
people are not immune from doubting their beliefs
if they have reasons for doing so.
• 2- People with strong faith and conviction who
have considered their beliefs carefully
• 3- People with perfection of faith and conviction-
They have thought long and hard and sought the
assistance of Allah (SWT), by obeying Him, following
His commands and perfecting their worship of Him.
• "But to those who receive Guidance, He increases
the (light of) Guidance, and bestows on them their
Piety and Restraint (from evil)."
(Muhammad (47:17)
• The basis of Islamic belief is the Book of Allah (SWT),
and the Sunnah of His Prophet (SAW)
• All those beliefs are supported by sound reasoning and
provable by correct thinking
• ‘And how many Signs in the heavens and the earth do
they pass by? Yet they turn (their faces) away from
them!’(Yusuf ,12:105)
• ‘Behold! in the creation of the heavens and the earth,
and the alternation of night and day,- there are indeed
Signs for men of understanding,’
(al-Imraan,3:190)

• The Islamic creed can be divided into four main
sections each of which has many sub-sections:
a) Ilaahiyaat (Belief in Allah): This section studies matters
related to Allah (SWT) such as His attributes, Names and
actions. This also includes the obligations on the servant
of Allah towards his Lord as a result of these beliefs.
b) Nubuaat (Prophethood): This section considers
matters related to the Prophets such as their attributes,
their immunity from sin, their functions and the need for
their message, the miracles, acts of divine grace
(Karaamah)
C) Kitabiyaat (Scriptures): This section is related to belief
upon holy books sent to Porphets for the guidance of
mankind.
• c) Rawhaniyaat (The Soul): This section considers
matters related to the unseen world such as angels,
the jinn and the soul.
• d) Sam’iyaat (Life after death): This section studies
matters related to life in the grave and the
Hereafter such as the conditions of the grave, the
signs of the Last Day, Resurrection, coming face to
face with Allah, the Reckoning and Reward or
Punishment.
• e)Qada wa Qadar (Pre-Destination: This section is
concerned with belief on pre destination of matters
by Allah (SWT)
• God has said: ‘Take not (for worship) two gods: for He is just
One God: then fear Me (and Me alone).’ To Him belongs
whatever is in the heavens and on earth, and to Him is duty
due always: then will ye fear other than God? (16 :51-53)
• ‘They do blaspheme who say: God is one of three in a Trinity:
for there is no god except One God. If they desist not from
their word (of blasphemy), verily a grievous penalty will befall
the blasphemers among them. Al-Maa’idah (5: 74-75)
Tawheed in Arabic means attributing Oneness to
Allah and describing Him as being One and
Unique, with no partner or peer in His Essence and
Attributes.
Surah Ikhlas (112) defines Tauhid in these words:
• Believing in Allah as One Lord and
Unique with regard to His actions
,e.g. Creation, sovereignty, control,
giving life and death, and so on.
1-Tawheed al-
Ruboobiyyah
(LORDSHIP)
• Devoting all acts of worship, both
in word and deed, to Allah Alone,
and not worshipping anything or
anyone other than Allah
2-Tawheed al-
Uloohiyyah
(WORSHIP)
• Affirming the names and attributes
of Allah and believing that there is
none like unto Allah in His names
and attributes.
3-Tawheed al-
Asma’ waSifaat
(NAMES)
• The word shirk comes from the Arabic root Šh-R-K
)with the general meaning of "to share".
• In the context of the Quran, the particular sense of
"sharing as an equal partner "means "attributing a
partner to Allah".
• Shirk (Arabic: ) refers to the sin of practicing
idolatry or polytheism, i.e. the deification or
worship of anyone or anything other than the
singular God Almighty, Allah (SWT).
• Shirk is opposite to Tauhid
• 1. Shirk causes the greatest downfall of human status
and dignity:
• Turn unto Allah (only), not ascribing partners unto Him,
for whoso ascribes partners unto Allah, it is as if he had
fallen from the sky and the birds had snatched him or
the wind had blown him to a far off place. (Al Hajj:31)
• 2. Shirk is the root of evil and superstition-They start
believing falsely in the power of jinn, spirits and other
humans
• 3. Shirk is tyranny and injustice-An injustice is to withhold
someone's rights or treat in an unfair manner.
• When Luqman said to his son while advising him "Oh my son! Do
not ascribe partners to Allah. Indeed shirk is a great injustice."
(Luqman:13)
• 4. Shirk is the cause of anxiety and fear
We shall cast fear into the hearts of those who disbelieve because
they ascribe partners unto Allah for which no evidence is revealed. (
Ale Imran:151)
• 5. Shirk denies rewards in the hereafter
• Whoever joins other gods with Allah, Allah will forbid him heaven
and the fire will be his abode. ( Maidah:72)
Shirk
Akbar(Major)
Jali(Clear) Khafi(Subtle)
Asghar(Minor)
• 1. Shirk akbar jali (clear)- It means to worship a god
or several gods besides Allah (s.w.t.). These 'gods'
could be cosmic objects, animals, spirits, jinn or
human beings such as priests, kings or rulers.
• 2. Shirk akbar khafi (subtle)-
• When one prays or supplicates to something other
than Allah (s.w.t.)
• When one takes a lawgiver or lawmaker other than
Allah
• To swear with names other than Allah
• To adorn something that is believed to be a form of
'protection from misfortune‘
• To practice, involve or believe in any form of sihir
(sorcery) including charms, incantations, astrology
• To believe in 'fortune-telling‘
• To believe in evil omens
• To have riya or show off in good deeds
• To have no redha (dissatisfaction with Allah’s Qada)
• This includes phrases like 'In the name of Allah and
the name of so and so' (e.g. a leader)
• Nature of Allah (SWT) is too vast to be
encompassed by the human mind
• Electricity and magnetism for example are forces
which we benefit from but we know nothing about
their true nature.
• Ibn Abbas (RA) said that a group of people used to
debate the nature of Allah and the Prophet of Allah
(SAW) said to them: "Ponder over the creation of
Allah and do not ponder over the essence of Allah
because your minds cannot possibly encompass
that.”
• Abu Huraira(RA) said: The
Prophet (SAW) said:
• ‘Allah has ninety nine Names,
one hundred but one. Everyone
who memorizes them enters
the Jannah, He is One (witr), He
loves the witr.’ (Bukhari and
Muslim)
• In another narration of Al-
Bukhari, he says: ‘..whosoever
counts them..’.
• Al-Quddus (The Holy) means the One without
faults.
• As-Salaam (The Peace) means the source of
peace for His creatures. It also means the One
without faults.
• Al-Mu’min (The Faithful) means the One who
fulfils His promise to His creatures and who
protects them from His punishment.
• Al-Muhaymin (The Guardian) means the
controller or the guardian
• 1) The existence of Allah-
• It is He Who has created for you (the faculties of)
hearing, sight, feeling and understanding: little thanks it
is ye give! And He has multiplied you through the earth,
and to Him shall ye be gathered back. It is He Who gives
life and death, and to Him (is due) the alternation of
Night and Day: will ye not then understand?’
(al-Mu’minun 23: 78-80)
• He is the First and the Last, the Evident and the
Immanent: and He has full knowledge of all things.’
Al-Hadeed (57: 3)
• ‘And call not, besides God, on another god. There is no
god but He. Everything (that exists) will perish except
His own Face. To Him belongs the Command, and to
Him will ye (all) be brought back.’
Al-Qasas (28: 88)
• O mankind! It is ye that have need of God: but God is
the One Free of all wants, worthy of all praise.’
Al Faatir (35: 15)
• ‘I called them not to witness the creation of the
heavens and the earth, nor (even) their own creation:
nor is it for helpers such as Me to take as lead (men)
astray!’
Al-Kahf (18:51)
• We created the heavens and the earth and all between them
in Six Days, nor did any sense of weariness touch Us.’
Qaf (50:38)
• ‘It is He Who has let free the two bodies of flowing water:
One palatable and sweet, and the other salt and bitter; yet
has He made a barrier between them, a partition that is
forbidden to be passed. It is He Who has created man from
water: then has He established relationships of lineage and
marriage: for thy Lord has power (over all things).’
Al-Furqan (25:53-54)
• Verily, when He intends a thing, His Command is, "be", and it
is!’
Yasin (36:82).
• ‘When We decide to destroy a population, We (first) sends a
definite order to those among them who are given the good
things of this life and yet transgress; so that the word is
proved true against them: then (it is) We destroy them
utterly.’
Al-Isra’ (17:16)
• He knows all that goes into the earth, and all that
comes out thereof; all that comes down from the sky
and all that ascends thereto and He is the Most
Merciful, the Oft-Forgiving.’
Saba’ (34: 2)
• ‘He knows what is in the heavens and on earth; and He
knows what ye conceal and what ye reveal: yea, God
knows well the (secrets) of (all) hearts.’
At-Taghabun (64:4)
• ‘O my son!’ (said Luqman), ‘If there be (but) the weight of a mustard-seed and it
were (hidden) in a rock, or (anywhere) in the heavens or on earth, God will bring
it forth: for God understands the finest mysteries, (and) is well-acquainted (with
them).’’
Luqman (31:16)
• ‘In whatever business you may be, and whatever portion you may be reciting
from the Qur’an,- and whatever deed ye (mankind) may be doing,- We are
witnesses thereof when ye are deeply engrossed therein. Nor is hidden from your
Lord (so much as) the weight of an atom on the earth or in heaven. And not the
least and not the greatest of these things but are recorded in a clear record.’
Yunus (10:61)
• ‘God! There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-subsisting,
Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things
in the heavens and on earth.’ Al-Baqarah (2:255)
• ‘Alif Laam Meem. Allah! There is no god but He,-the Living,
the Self-Subsisting, Eternal. It is He Who sent down to thee
(step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went
before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the
Gospel (of Jesus) Al-Imran (3:1-3)
• God has indeed heard (and accepted) the statement of the woman who
pleads with you concerning her husband and carries her complaint (in
prayer) to God: and God (always) hears the arguments between both
sides among you: for God hears and sees (all things).’Al-Mujadalah (58:1)
• ‘Do you see one who forbids- A servant when he (turns) to pray? Do you
see that he is on (the road of) Guidance?- Or enjoins Righteousness? Do
you see if he denies (Truth) and turns away? Does he not know that God
does see?’ Al-’Alaq (96: 9-14)
• ‘...and to Moses God spoke direct;-’
An-Nisaa’ (4), ayah 164)
• ‘Can you (o you men of Faith) entertain the hope
that they will believe in you?- Seeing that a party of
them heard the Word of God, and perverted it
knowingly after they understood it.’
Al-Baqarah (2:75)
• The attributes of Allah (SWT) mentioned in the Holy
Qur’an are numerous
• The aspects of His perfection are infinite and
cannot be conceived by the minds of human beings.
• We cannot praise Him as adequately as He has
praised Himself.
• Attribute of ‘living’, ‘hearing’, ‘sight’, ‘speech’,
‘Power’ and ‘Will’ etc. have entirely different
meanings in relation to Allah from those in relation
to human beings in terms of degree and quality
• Allah (SWT) is unlike any of His creatures
First proof
Our universe, which is so vast and intricate, points to the
existence of its Creator, His greatness and Perfection.
Second proof
You cannot give what you do not have. If the Creator of
this universe were not characterized by Perfection, how
then can His creatures have in them the traces of those
attributes of perfection.
Third proof.
This has to do with the fact that the Creator is One and
cannot possibly be more than one. This is because
multiplicity of creators would be a cause of discord and
chaos
• Abu Hurairah (RA) reported that the Prophet (SAW)
said:
‘Some people will keep asking questions until they
ask: ‘Allah created the creation but who created
Allah?’ Whoever is asked this question, let him
(simply) say ‘I believe in Allah’.’ (Narrated by Muslim)
• Imam Mazrewy commented on this Hadith and said
that the Prophet, seems to be enjoining Muslims to
refrain from trying to respond to such questions
about Allah.
• 1-Waswasah (whisperings of Satan). Which are not
troubling the mind and did not arise because of some
misconception. Those can simply be ignored.
• 2-Persistent questions which arise as a result of some
misconception, they can be tackled only with
arguments and evidence
• Human beings came into existence at a certain point in
time, and we know that they do not come into
existence by themselves, but they must have a Creator
• Allah is necessarily self-sufficient
• Allah (SWT) exists by Himself and does not need
anyone to create Him.
• ‘We believe in them as true without enquiring how
(these actions are done), nor what they mean nor
do we reject any of them.
• We know that, whatever the Prophet (SAW)
brought was true provided it is attributed to him
through reliable transmission.
• We do not reject what Allah says; and Allah (SWT),
cannot be described with anything better than what
He said about Himself.
• Nothing is like unto Him.’
(Al Sunnah Muhammadiyya wa al Mihna’)
• ‘Whoever talks about the nature of Allah and
• for example when explaining the verse which says
‘The Jews say that Allah’s hands are shackled’ ,
points with his hands to his neck, or
• when explaining the verse ‘He hears everything and
sees everything’ points to his eyes or part of his
hand, may it be cut off because
• (he was so blasphemous that) he likened Allah to
himself.’
• Prophets who gave good news as well as warning
that mankind after (the coming) of the Apostles
should have no plea against Allah: for Allah is
Exalted in Power Wise.(4:166)
• We have sent thee inspiration as We sent it to
Noah and the Messengers after him. (4:163)
• Muhammad is not the father of any of your men
but (he is) the Prophet of Allah and the Seal of
the Prophets: and Allah has full knowledge of all
things. (33:40)
Say: "I tell you not that with me are the treasures of
Allah nor do I know what is hidden nor do I tell you I
am an angel. I but follow what is revealed to me."
Say: "Can the blind be held equal to the seeing?"
Will ye then consider not? (Al Anam,6:50)
• Blessed is He Who sent down the Criterion to His
servant that it may be an admonition to all creatures.
(25:1)
• Say: "O men! I am sent unto you all as the apostle
of Allah to Whom belongs the dominion of the
heavens and the earth: there is no god but He: it is
He that gives both life and death. So believe in
Allah and His apostle the unlettered Prophet who
believed in Allah and His words: follow him that
(so) ye may be guided.“ (Araf,7:158)
• The Religion before Allah is Islam…(3:19)
• This day have I perfected your religion for you
completed my favor upon you and have chosen for
you Islam as your religion. (5:3)
• If anyone desires a religion other than Islam
(submission to Allah) never will it be accepted of
him; and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of
those who have lost. (3:85)
• Those who deny Allah and his Prophets and
(those who) wish to separate Allah from His
Prophets saying: "We believe in some but reject
others": and (those who) wish to take a course
midway. They are in truth unbelievers; and We
have prepared for unbelievers a humiliating
punishment. (Nisa, 4:150-151)
• You are the best of peoples evolved for
mankind enjoining what is right forbidding what
is wrong and believing in Allah..(Al Imran,3:111)
• Best among this ummah were Sahabah or
companions of the Prophet (SAW)
• We believe upon the rightly guided Khalifas who led
the Ummah and honor them.
• Abu Bakr (RA) was the best and most capable to be
the first Khalifah and then Umar (RA), then Othman
(RA) and then Ali (RA) in that order.
• After Sahabah best people were Tabe’een and then
Taba-Tabe’een
• A Jama’ah of this ummah shall always be on right
path.
• Conflicts and differences which appeared amongst Sahabah
were based upon sincere Ijtihad
• We must refrain from denigrating anyone of them
• We must recognize their devotion, service and sacrifices for
Islam and honor them always.
• Not equal among you are those who spent (freely) and fought
before the Victory (with those who did so later). Those are
higher in rank than those who spent (freely) and fought
afterwards. But to all has Allah promised a goodly (reward)
and Allah is well-acquainted with all that ye do.(57:10)
• Four main reasons for the revelation of scriptures
1. To learn the religion and obligations towards God
and fellow human beings.
2. Disputes and differences between its followers in
matter of religious belief and practice or in matters
of social practice could be settled
3. The scriptures are meant to keep the religion safe
from corruption and deterioration
4. It is God’s proof against human beings
• The Quran is not the only spoken Word of God, but
God also spoke to prophets before Prophet
Muhammad.
• “…and to Moses God spoke directly.” (Quran 4:164
• “…believe in what has been sent down to you
(Muhammad) and what has been sent down before
you…” (Quran 2:4)
:
• (i) The Quran itself, revealed to the Prophet Muhammad.
• (ii) The Torah (Torah in Arabic) revealed to the Prophet
Moses (different from the Old Testament read today).
• (iii) The Gospel (Injil in Arabic) revealed to Prophet Jesus (AS)
which was different from the New Testament read in churches
today.
• (iv) The Psalms (Zaboor in Arabic) of David (AS).
• (v) The Scrolls (Suhuf in Arabic) of Musa (AS) and
Abrahim(AS).
• “And We have sent down to you (O Muhammad)
the Book (the Quran) in truth, confirming the
scripture that came before it and trustworthy in
highness and a witness over it (the collection of old
scriptures)…” (Quran 5:48)
• Quran confirms whatever is true in previous
scriptures and rejects whatever alterations and
changes human hands have made to them.
• The Quran is different from other scriptures in the
following respects:
• (1) The Quran is miraculous and inimitable
• (2) After the Quran, no more scriptures will be
revealed by God.
• (3) God has taken it upon Himself to protect the Quran
from alteration, to safeguard it from corruption, and
to preserve it from distortion.
• (4) The Quran, for one, confirms early scriptures and,
for another, is a trustworthy witness over them.
• (5) The Quran abrogates them, meaning it cancels the
rulings of the previous scriptures and renders them
inapplicable.
• Angels were created from light before human
beings were created,
• They do not eat or drink. The angels do not get
bored or tired of worshipping God
• “They celebrate His praises night and day, nor do
they ever slacken.” (Anbiya, 21:20)
• Every day seventy thousand angels visit Kaaba and
leave, never returning to it again, followed by
another group
• The angels possess great powers given to them by
God.
• They can take on different forms
• God sent Gabriel to Mary in the form of a man:
• “…Then We sent to her Our angel, and he appeared
before her as a man in all respects.” (Maryam, 19:17)
• Angels also visited Abraham in human form
• Gabriel is God’s heavenly messenger to mankind.
• He would convey the revelation from God to His
human messengers
• Michael is responsible for rain, directing it wherever
God wishes
• Israfeel will blow the Horne at the onset of the Day of
Judgment
• Isra ’eel is responsible for taking souls out of the
bodies at the time of death
• Munkar and Nakeer, are responsible for testing people
in the grave.
• There are keepers of Paradise and the nineteen
‘guards’ of Hell whose leader is named ‘Malik.’
• Kiraman Katibeen are responsible for recording the
deeds of man, good and bad
• Death is but a phase in a series of phases, it is the
beginning of one’s journey to the afterlife
• “Thereof (the earth) We created you, and into it We
shall return you, and from it We shall bring you out
once again.” (Quran 20:55)
• As the soul departs the body, the person will stare
at it, and his eyes will follow it. The Prophet said:
• “One will follow the path of the soul visually as it
leaves his body.” (Saheeh Muslim)
• Nearing the end of time, the trumpet will be blown
and creation will cease to exist. God, Almighty, says:
• “And the Trumpet will be blown, and all who are in the
heavens and all who are on the earth will swoon away,
except him whom God wills.” (Quran 39:68)
• “And the Trumpet will be blown (i.e. the second
blowing) and behold! From the graves they will come
out quickly to their Lord.” (Quran 36:51)
• “As We began the first creation, We will repeat it.
[That is] a promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We will
do it.” (Quran 21:104)
• “The sun will be a distance of a mile from the creation
on the Day of Resurrection. People will sink in their
perspiration according to their deeds. Some would
sink in their perspiration till their ankles, while others
would sink in it to their thighs and waists; yet others,
would sink in it till their mouths!”‘ (Saheeh Muslim)
• “On the Day you see it every nursing mother will be
distracted from that [child] she was nursing, and every
pregnant woman will abort her pregnancy, and you will
see the people [appearing] intoxicated while they are
not intoxicated; but the punishment of Allah is severe.”
(Quran 22:2)
• “That day will be 50 000 years long, after which a
person will be admitted into Paradise or cast into Hell.”
(Abu Dawood)
• After the agonizing wait and the Prophet’s
intercession, people’s records of deeds will be
handed out. Allah says:
• “Then as for he who is given his record in his right
hand, he will be judged with an easy account and
return to his people in happiness. But as for he who
is given his record behind his back, he will cry out
for destruction and *enter to+ burn in a Blaze.”
(Inshiqaq,84:7-12)
• Everyone’s deeds will be weighed in actual scale
and if the good outweighs the evil, they will be
successful but if the opposite happens they will be
among the losers.
• God says: “And We place the scales of justice for the
Day of Resurrection, so no soul will be treated
unjustly at all. And if there is [even] the weight of a
mustard seed, We will bring it forth. And sufficient
are We as accountant.”(Anbia,21:47)
• Islam teaches that Hell is a real place prepared by
God for those who do not believe in Him, rebel
against His laws, and reject His messengers
• “Know they not that whoever opposes God and His
Messenger (Muhammad), certainly for him will be
the Fire of Hell to abide therein? That is the
extreme disgrace.” (Taubah, 9:63)
• Hell Fire has different names in Islamic texts. Each
name gives a separate description. Some of its names
are:
Jaheem – fire - because of its blazing fire.
Jahannam - Hell - because of the depth of its pit.
Lazz’aa - blazing fire - because of its flames.
Sa’eer - blazing flame - because it is kindled and ignited.
Saqar - because of the intensity of its heat.
Hutamah - broken pieces or debris - because it breaks
and crushes everything that is thrown into it.
Haawiyah - chasm or abyss - because the one who is
thrown into it is thrown from top to bottom
• Every kind of beauty and blessing exists in Paradise
and will be revealed with a perfection
• These will be offered only to people with whom He
is pleased.
“... there will be there all that the souls could desire,
all that the eyes could delight in …” (Zukhruf, 43:71)
• “Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent
forth (good deeds) in days past!” (Haqah, 69:24)
• “… They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold,
and they will wear green garments of fine silk and
heavy brocade. They will recline therein on raised
thrones. How good [is] the recompense! How
beautiful a couch *is there+ to recline on!” (Kahf,18:31)
• “Indeed may you be healthy and never be sick again,
may you live and never die again, may you be young
and never grow feeble again, may you enjoy, and never
feel sorrow and regret again.” (Saheeh Muslim)
• Everything good or bad, all moments of happiness
or sorrow, pleasure or pain, come from God.
• God’s foreknowledge is infallible.
• God is not indifferent to this world or its people.
He is Wise and Loving
• “Truly, nothing is hidden from God, in the earth or
in the heavens.” (Quran 3:5)

• “Truly, nothing is hidden from God, in the earth or

• Allah (SWT) knows whatever is going to happen and
whatever has happened.
• His knowledge is limitless
• He does not forget
• Whoever refuses this denies God’s perfection
• God has recorded everything that will occur until
the Day of Judgment in the Preserved Tablet
• The life spans of all human beings are written and
the amount of their sustenance apportioned.
• Everything that is created or occurs in the universe
is according to what is recorded there.
• Did you not know that God knows (all) that is in the
heavens and the earth? It is (all) in a record. Surely
that is easy for God.” (Muminoon, 22:70)
.
• Nothing happens in this universe without the Will
of Allah
• Whatever He wills happens
• Whatever He does not will, does not happen
• (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go
straight. But ye shall not will Except as Allah wills
The Cherisher of the Worlds. (Takwir,81:28-29)
• “…He has created everything, and has ordained for it a
measure.” (Quran 25:2)
• Every human act both in material and spiritual life is
predestined,
• It is incorrect to believe the action of fate is blind,
arbitrary, and relentless.
• All is known, but freedom is also granted.
• Man is not a helpless creature borne along by destiny.
• Rather, each person is responsible for his acts.
“..so approach your tilth when or how ye will” (2:223)
• Here the man is given choice to choose as he wills.
If they had intended to come out they would certainly
have made some preparation therefor; but Allah was
averse to their being sent forth.. (Taubah,9:46)
• Here the preparation is left to their intention.
On no soul doth Allah place a burden greater than it
can bear.(2:286) This is evidence of choice and ability.
• If any do wish for the transitory things (of this
life) We readily grant them--such things as We will
to such persons as We will: in the end have We
provided Hell for them: they will burn therein
disgraced and rejected.
• Those who do wish for the (things of) the
Hereafter and strive therefor with all due striving
and have Faith they are the ones whose striving is
acceptable (to Allah) (17:18-19)
• Those who give partners to Allah will say "If
Allah had wished we should not have given
partners to Him nor would our father; nor should
we have had any taboos." So did their
ancestors argue falsely until they tasted of Our
wrath. Say: "Have ye any (certain) Knowledge?
If so produce it before us. Ye follow nothing but
conjecture: Ye do nothing but lie. (Anam,6:148)
• No misfortune can happen on earth or in your
souls but is recorded in a decree before We
bring it into existence: that is truly easy for
Allah:
• In order that ye may not despair over matters
that pass you by nor exult over favors
bestowed upon you. For Allah loves not any
vainglorious boaster. (Hadeed,57,22:23)
• God alone controls everything, so believer trusts
and relies on Him
• Even though a person tries his best, at the same
time he relies on God for the final outcome
• Hard work or intelligence does not make him
arrogant, for God is the source of all that comes his
way
• Person attains peace of mind in the realization that
God is the Wise and His Actions are dictated by
wisdom
O’Allah! I seek your protection from making anything partner to
you knowingly and I seek forgiveness about which I have no
knowledge. I repent about it and I declare rejection of all
disbelief, shirk, falsehood and sins. I submit to you and believe
in you and I say.” There is no Ilah except Allah and Mohammad is
the messenger of Allah.”

Islamic creed or aqaid

  • 1.
  • 2.
  • 3. • IMAN or faith (in Islam) is to believe upon Allah (SWT), angels, scriptures, messengers, Day of Judgment, decree of Allah in good or bad (situations). (Muslim)
  • 4. • Aqeedah refers to those matters which are believed in, with certainty and conviction, in one’s heart and soul. • The Arabic word ‘aqeedah stems from the root ‘aqada, which conveys meanings of certainty, affirmation, confirmation, etc • ‘Aqeedah is a matter of knowledge which the Muslim is obliged to believe in his heart • Allah has told about these matters in Quran or through the Revelation to His Messenger Mohammad (SAW)
  • 5. Belief out of custom Strong faith and conviction Perfection of faith and conviction
  • 6. • People fall into many categories regarding the strength or weakness of their beliefs. • 1-Some accepted those beliefs out of custom. Such people are not immune from doubting their beliefs if they have reasons for doing so. • 2- People with strong faith and conviction who have considered their beliefs carefully
  • 7. • 3- People with perfection of faith and conviction- They have thought long and hard and sought the assistance of Allah (SWT), by obeying Him, following His commands and perfecting their worship of Him. • "But to those who receive Guidance, He increases the (light of) Guidance, and bestows on them their Piety and Restraint (from evil)." (Muhammad (47:17)
  • 8. • The basis of Islamic belief is the Book of Allah (SWT), and the Sunnah of His Prophet (SAW) • All those beliefs are supported by sound reasoning and provable by correct thinking • ‘And how many Signs in the heavens and the earth do they pass by? Yet they turn (their faces) away from them!’(Yusuf ,12:105) • ‘Behold! in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day,- there are indeed Signs for men of understanding,’ (al-Imraan,3:190)
  • 9. Ilaahiyaat Allah Nubuaat Prophets Rawhaniyaat Angels Sam’iyaat Afterlife, Day of Judgment Kitabiyaat Scriptures Qada Wa Qadar Pre Destination
  • 10. • The Islamic creed can be divided into four main sections each of which has many sub-sections: a) Ilaahiyaat (Belief in Allah): This section studies matters related to Allah (SWT) such as His attributes, Names and actions. This also includes the obligations on the servant of Allah towards his Lord as a result of these beliefs. b) Nubuaat (Prophethood): This section considers matters related to the Prophets such as their attributes, their immunity from sin, their functions and the need for their message, the miracles, acts of divine grace (Karaamah) C) Kitabiyaat (Scriptures): This section is related to belief upon holy books sent to Porphets for the guidance of mankind.
  • 11. • c) Rawhaniyaat (The Soul): This section considers matters related to the unseen world such as angels, the jinn and the soul. • d) Sam’iyaat (Life after death): This section studies matters related to life in the grave and the Hereafter such as the conditions of the grave, the signs of the Last Day, Resurrection, coming face to face with Allah, the Reckoning and Reward or Punishment. • e)Qada wa Qadar (Pre-Destination: This section is concerned with belief on pre destination of matters by Allah (SWT)
  • 12. • God has said: ‘Take not (for worship) two gods: for He is just One God: then fear Me (and Me alone).’ To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and on earth, and to Him is duty due always: then will ye fear other than God? (16 :51-53) • ‘They do blaspheme who say: God is one of three in a Trinity: for there is no god except One God. If they desist not from their word (of blasphemy), verily a grievous penalty will befall the blasphemers among them. Al-Maa’idah (5: 74-75)
  • 13. Tawheed in Arabic means attributing Oneness to Allah and describing Him as being One and Unique, with no partner or peer in His Essence and Attributes. Surah Ikhlas (112) defines Tauhid in these words:
  • 14. • Believing in Allah as One Lord and Unique with regard to His actions ,e.g. Creation, sovereignty, control, giving life and death, and so on. 1-Tawheed al- Ruboobiyyah (LORDSHIP) • Devoting all acts of worship, both in word and deed, to Allah Alone, and not worshipping anything or anyone other than Allah 2-Tawheed al- Uloohiyyah (WORSHIP) • Affirming the names and attributes of Allah and believing that there is none like unto Allah in His names and attributes. 3-Tawheed al- Asma’ waSifaat (NAMES)
  • 15. • The word shirk comes from the Arabic root Šh-R-K )with the general meaning of "to share". • In the context of the Quran, the particular sense of "sharing as an equal partner "means "attributing a partner to Allah". • Shirk (Arabic: ) refers to the sin of practicing idolatry or polytheism, i.e. the deification or worship of anyone or anything other than the singular God Almighty, Allah (SWT). • Shirk is opposite to Tauhid
  • 16. • 1. Shirk causes the greatest downfall of human status and dignity: • Turn unto Allah (only), not ascribing partners unto Him, for whoso ascribes partners unto Allah, it is as if he had fallen from the sky and the birds had snatched him or the wind had blown him to a far off place. (Al Hajj:31) • 2. Shirk is the root of evil and superstition-They start believing falsely in the power of jinn, spirits and other humans
  • 17. • 3. Shirk is tyranny and injustice-An injustice is to withhold someone's rights or treat in an unfair manner. • When Luqman said to his son while advising him "Oh my son! Do not ascribe partners to Allah. Indeed shirk is a great injustice." (Luqman:13) • 4. Shirk is the cause of anxiety and fear We shall cast fear into the hearts of those who disbelieve because they ascribe partners unto Allah for which no evidence is revealed. ( Ale Imran:151) • 5. Shirk denies rewards in the hereafter • Whoever joins other gods with Allah, Allah will forbid him heaven and the fire will be his abode. ( Maidah:72)
