Employed as backshift warehouse operative, additional duties include furniture assembly and delivery vehicle driving
(3.5 ton vans) with onsite assembly and installation of delivered items. High pressure, high demand on both
extremely physical and mental levels - often required to work as one of a team of only 2 (without relief cover so
occasionally single-handed), duties on a nightly basis often comprised :
Picking (via hand and forklift), ordering to delivery plans (load planning) and the loading as many as 7 x 3.5T vans to
capacity, as well as several HGV (to capacity) - often first unloading returning vehicles carrying back stock deliveries
urgently required as items for outgoing deliveries same day. Daily duties also encompassed maintenance and upkeep
of warehouse, occasional maintenance to vehicles, cleanliness and inspection of vehicles, refuelling of vehicles if
required, occasional urgent deliveries within entire north-east area, occasional deliveries further afield to UK cities,
flexible early starts (as contractually required with less than 24H notice) sometimes 4 - 6 hours in addition of
standard daily hours and short notice north-east delivery schedules in backup van if all normal schedule vehicles
unable to provide spare capacity or suitable routing. All duties expected to be fulfilled with 0% error and wastage.
