Please describe your company/activity/business
EMC Corporation is a global leader in enabling businesses
and service providers to transform their operations and deliver
IT as a service. Fundamental to this transformation is Cloud
Computing. Through innovative products and services, EMC
accelerates the journey to Cloud Computing, helping IT
departments to store, manage protect and analyse their most
valuable asset-information-in a more agile, trusted and cost-
efficient way.
Please describe your relationship/partnership with
EBRC (benefits, technological complementarity, market
opportunities, common values, etc.)
Over 15% of the worldwide offering of Tier IV Data Centres
is concentrated in Luxembourg. A Tier IV Data Centre is the
most stringent level of Data Centres, which is designed to
host mission critical computer systems, with fully redundant
subsystems and compartmentalised security zones.
This is where EMC comes into play within the Trusted Managed
Services offering from EBRC. In 2012, EBRC and EMC have
signed a major partnership for the EBRC Trusted Backup and
Restore Services (TBRS) in EBRC TrustedCloudEurope. The
joint solution consists in a unique replicated BackUp solution to
EBRC 2 Tier IV certified Data Centres (Uptime Institute, USA).
In addition, due to its PSF Status, the information does not
leave EBRC Data Centres in Luxembourg. The encrypted data
remains the customer’s property. Both EBRC and EMC already
have a track record in the banking industry in Luxembourg but
this solution is also very attractive for e-commerce outlets
and other companies looking for a secure and fully redundant
Bakup and Restore “Pay-as-You-Go” Cloud solution.
Please describe your perception of the market (trails,
trends, innovations, etc.). Describe your role on the
market (expertise, value creation, support to other
businesses, etc.)
EMC believes that to be competitive in the mobile and cloud
era, businesses need to redefine themselves as software-
defined enterprises, offering unique experiences to their
customers on mobile devices and providing greater and more
timely insight to business users. To achieve this, they must
transform their IT infrastructures and operations. The best
option for customers is to invest in best-of-breed, integrated
technology solutions that take a software-defined approach to
infrastructure and are architected horizontally, allowing them to
select the market offerings that are right for their unique needs.

By building a completely virtualised and automated Software-
Defined Data Centre, customers will lower the cost of running
IT and provide the foundation for faster, more agile IT. This
Software-Defined Data Centre provides a seamless cloud
environment that can be extended from private cloud to the
public cloud, forming a secure hybrid cloud – removing barriers
to providing self-service and the highest service levels ever.
To differentiate themselves, customers must build new
applications in an agile way, with new platforms, and target
those applications at mobile devices. Those mobile devices
all need to be managed by IT to secure corporate information,
while driving employee productivity and satisfaction. As
enterprises start to store and analyse the massive data sets
that are available, they will gain new insights about their
customers and their business. This requires a “Data Lake” to
store these vast amounts of information, and provide the ability
to analyse and correlate it. Finally, an adaptive, data-driven
approach to security that watches and analyses all activity is
required to quickly recognise anomalies and act before it’s too
late.
Each company in the EMC Federation - EMC, VMware, Pivotal
and RSA - provides unique products, services and expertise to
deliver on these solutions. And while most vendors are building
vertical stacks with no choice at the layers, our horizontally
architected, software-defined approach includes both leading
technologies and partner ecosystems to drive the new IT
agenda – with customer choice.

EUDCA
THE EUROPEAN DATA CENTRE ASSOCIATION
The European Data Centre Association has been established
because the Data Centre industry believes that the time has
come for it to have an organisation that is able to speak on
its behalf and represent its interests. This united voice will give
the industry more authority and standing when dealing with
the various external bodies that affect the way it goes about
its business.
Who has set it up?
The EUDCA has been set up by a group of leading companies
who operate in the Data Centre industry. These founder
members come from a number of European countries, they
are drawn from across the various parts of the sector, and
they range from major international companies to independent
operators.
What is it for?
Its principal role will be to influence public policy at European
level to ensure that its members can operate effectively
without unnecessary regulation and in a business-friendly
environment. The association also has an important function
role in explaining to a wider audience its crucial role in the
continued development of the digital economy and in ensuring
that its major contribution is more widely recognised.
What will it do?
In the sphere of government and regulation the EUDCA’s
direct role will be help guide policy in a direction that assists
its members and the wider industry continue to develop and
grow. In a number of areas the European Union and certain
national governments are developing policies whose effect
on the industry is not fully understood by those making the
polices.
The areas that need to be watched include energy, the
environment, and planning. However, financial matters,
including taxation, could emerge. The EUDCA will lobby
to explain fully the industry’s concerns and position on
these matters and to influence policy from the start of its
development.
There will be a need to put in place the facility for monitoring
the European Parliament and possibly, at times, some of the
national Parliaments. Linked to this process is explaining the
key role the industry plays in the modern economy. This should
position the industry as a force that is prepared to invest,
contributes to growth, could provide jobs, and that therefore
should not be burdened by unnecessary costs. This means
there is an education role for the EUDCA in relation to opinion-
formers.
Part of this will be the full use of the modern media in its
various forms. It is important that the EUDCA has its set of
key messages that it can keep using, accompanied by regular
comments on any issue that has an impact on the sector.
Who can be members?
The EUDCA will mainly have members operating within the
European Union and Switzerland.
What services will it offer?
Apart from its public affairs and media roles the EUDCA will
seek to raise standards across the industry:
Professional development for those already working in the
industry and training for those seeking to enter the sector.
It might lead to a system of certification contributing to the
professionalising of the whole industry.
As the association develops it may offer other professional
services that will benefit its members and increase the range of
professional advice available.
What does it hope to achieve?
The goal of the EUDCA is to have a single voice that can
speak on behalf of the Data Centre industry. There is no body
that currently fulfils that function. The member companies will
have more weight and power when they seek to influence
policy and public perceptions. By having one body covering
a wide variety of members, a more strategic approach will be
developed to external threats or problems and clear, crisp and
coherent messages should then evolve. The EUDCA will make
it far easier for the Data Centre industry to explain both its
achievements to a wider audience and why it is an increasingly
vital part of everyday life in the digital age.
So many Data Centres in Europe...

expected load by simulating realistic load for global locations
while measuring customer satisfaction.
We take the viewpoint of the end-user, measuring end-to-end,
from outside. Using real user data or synthetic load. From
anywhere in the world.
Key Performance will help you to identify potential bottlenecks
and fix them pro-actively before your customers even notice!
Please describe your perception of the market (trails,
trends, innovations, etc.). Describe your role on the
market (expertise, value creation, support to other
businesses, etc.)
Trends of the market are:
• Have web-based applications, also for internal applications
• Dynamic websites allowing to personalise per user the
content
• Keep coherent databases with no need to duplicate those
• Increase page size and complexity
• More and more far away visitors: North America, Asia/pacific
is one click away!
• But all this very often with performance degradation.
We help you to have or keep a fast and reliable website for
all visitors.
Measure. Analyse. Improve.

OpenDataSoft is a turnkey SaaS platform designed for smart
and easy transformation of all types of data into innovative
services (APIs, data visualizations, real-time monitoring). Its
mission: make it easier for anyone to publish, share and reuse
data.
Business users daily deal with lots of data but don’t extract all
their value. OpenDataSoft helps them monetize their data on
the Web and through applications.
With OpenDataSoft, any non-tech user can turn any data into
interactive data visualizations and share it everywhere on the
Web (social media, website embeds) and into APIs to build
innovative business applications.
OpenDataSoft’s approach is unique:
• the platform is turnkey and SaaS, making it very easy to
launch comprehensive portals in hours
• our pricing model is based on usage (data volume and API
queries)
• our platform allows simple integration into Web and mobile
applications
• our data visualizations are state-of-the art (automatic
generation of maps and graphs, embed feature...)
Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Paris, France,
OpenDataSoft powers data sharing portals for customers such
as the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, the
Paris Region, the City of Brussels, the French National Railway
Company, Veolia, m2ocity.
Please describe your relationship/partnership with
EBRC (benefits, technological complementarity, market
opportunities, common values, etc.)
OpenDataSoft, EBRC InTech have developed an Open-
Data-as-a-Service solution to simplify information access with
dedicated expertise and a turnkey SaaS platform:
• data is stored in EBRC TrustedCloudEurope,
• datasets are published with the OpenDataSoft platform in the
secured TrustedCloudEurope environment,
• integration and customization are delivered by InTech.
Storage quality, processing publishing in a single interface,
and quick integration are the key elements of the solution.
Customers are guaranteed the highest level of efficiency and
security for their data.
Please describe your perception of the market (trails,
trends, innovations, etc.). Describe your role on the
market (expertise, value creation, support to other
businesses, etc.)
With Web 2.0, a whole new generation of Web interactions
has emerged: intuitive interfaces, drag’n’drops, WYSIWYG…
Business users are now looking for the same types of features
at home and in the work place. They need user-friendly
solutions that have been designed for them and not for tech
people.
When working with complex data, they also need to instantly
understand what the data are about. Data visualizations
(charts, maps, graphs…) are key elements in the increasingly
data-driven processes and tasks.
Besides, business applications are unavoidable. It is important
to ease data integration into these applications, for example
with APIs.
These fundamental issues are at the core of OpenDataSoft’s
development.

The world’s leading provider of open source enterprise
IT products and services
More than two decades ago, Red Hat had a spark of an
idea—a vision for developing better software. Then and now,
collaboration with an ecosystem of IT leaders, open source
advocates, developers, and partners creates the perfect
foundation for the future of IT—Red Hat® Enterprise Linux®.
But that was just the beginning.
Today, Red Hat is at the forefront of open source software
development for enterprise IT, with a broad portfolio of
products and services for commercial markets.
That vision for developing better software is a reality, as CIOs
and IT departments around the world rely on us to deliver
solutions that meet their business needs. Solutions that provide
technology leadership, performance, security, and unmatched
value to more than 90% of Fortune 500 companies.* Trusted
and innovative solutions preparing them for the future of IT.
Products and Services
Red Hat provides the only fully open technology stack. And
with a fully open stack, you are not locked in. You are not
limited to a vendor’s vision of your future.
To support its stack, Red Hat provides a variety of services,
including award-winning support, consulting, and training.
Please describe your relationship/partnership with
EBRC (benefits, technological complementarity, market
opportunities, common values, etc.)
EBRC is Red Hat’s mayor Data Centre and Managed
Services provider in the Luxembourg area and beyond. At
this moment, EBRC is a Red Hat Advanced Solution Provider
and a Certified Red Hat Advanced Hosting Partner. The highly
skilled and trained technical staff combined with the visionary
management has created the ideal surrounding for any cost
effective, highly innovating and mission critical challenge.
During the 6 year partnership, EBRC and Red Hat have been
offering to our mutual customers an enterprise class alternative
on the Operating System, Middleware and Hybrid Cloud level.
This long lasting strong relationship provides an in-depth
access to the Red Hat global support services and product
management. With the input and feedback of EBRC and their
customers, Red Hat has and will be able to address all the
customers and EBRC’s needs for current and future projects.
We grow when we share!
Please describe your perception of the market (trails,
trends, innovations, etc.). Describe your role on the
market (expertise, value creation, support to other
businesses, etc.)
Red Hat is a connective hub in a global network of customers,
partners, research and academic organizations, and open
source communities. Bringing these innovative groups
together fosters collaboration. And with a wide range of
computing requirements, distinct approaches, and differing
skills, the result is technology that meets the needs of today’s
computing environments more effectively than any one group
could have created alone.
Driving Innovation with Open Source
We deliver this technology to customers in two ways:
1. Offering commercial products for demanding environments
Deploying solutions from Red Hat and its partners helps
customers benefit from the best of both worlds—innovative
technology coupled with the services, security, predictability,
and quality that their businesses demand.
2. Sponsoring freely available open source projects
We are experts at collaboration—developing new technology,
solving common problems, and sharing the benefits with our
customers and partners.
For the past 20 years, the Red Hat open source software
development model has produced high-performance, cost-
effective solutions. Our model mirrors the highly interconnected
world we live in—where ideas and information can be shared
worldwide in seconds.
This model allows our customers to enjoy the highest levels
of technology innovation while remaining aligned with real-
world business requirements. Traditional, proprietary software
development models cannot match this efficient, rapid,
customer-focused method.
Red Hat gives customers the maximum value from their
investments by delivering solutions in collaboration with
our hardware and software partners. These extensive
collaborations connect every aspect of the enterprise, and
help customers deploy integrated and certified configurations.
At Red Hat, open source is not what we do, it’s how we do
what we do.
Interoperability and cost savings
Coupled with our subscription model, open source
standardisation results in low entry and exit costs. Our
customers can choose the solutions and suppliers that best fit
their needs, minimising vendor lock-in.
CIOs and IT departments select Red Hat because we help
them successfully deploy secure infrastructures that offer the
best return on their investments. Red Hat helps them meet the
demands of their businesses with practical, proven solutions.

vmware
Please describe your company/activity/business
VMware is the leader in virtualisation and Cloud infrastructure
solutions that enable businesses to thrive in the Cloud Era.
Customers rely on VMware to help them transform the way
they build, deliver and consume Information Technology
resources in a manner that is evolutionary and based on their
specific needs.
Our vision is to radically simplify IT, we are focused on three
core strategic initiatives (software-defined Data Centre, hybrid
Cloud Computing and Mobility) that will deliver next-generation
virtualised infrastructure for Cloud services to all devices.
VMware’s virtualised infrastructure will help you complete the
evolution of IT from how you know it today, to IT as a Service
- easy, on-demand, self-service access for your business or
organisation to applications and data, anytime, from anywhere.
In essence, personalised IT.
With 2013 revenues of $5.21 billion, VMware has more than
500,000 customers and 55,000 partners. The company is
headquartered in Silicon Valley with offices throughout the
world.
Please describe your relationship/partnership with
EBRC (benefits, technological complementarity, market
opportunities, common values, etc.)
EBRC has a long term relationship with VMware.
When they started their new business unit/activity
TrustedCloudEurope, the EBRC Technical team was
convinced by the added value and advantages of the VMware
Cloud technology.
It’s not the first time that we participate in a common event to
demonstrate our strong partnership.
Some customers do already subscribe the quality of our
common offering after their first real life experience.
As Cloud is one of the first focus areas of our customers for the
next years, we (EBRC VMware) are well prepared to deliver
what Customers need in terms of flexibility, security and cost
reduction.
Please describe your perception of the market (trails,
trends, innovations, etc.). Describe your role on the
market (expertise, value creation, support to other
businesses, etc.)
IT organisations face unprecedented challenges. Internal
business customers continue to demand rapid delivery
of innovative services to respond to outside threats and
opportunities. Hamstrung by limited staff and budget, IT
struggles to keep up, often exhausting resources simply trying
to respond to changing business requests.
In this tense environment, the options have been few: delay
innovation that fuels the business or allow business users to
procure services without IT oversight that ensures reliability,
security, compliance and governance standards are met for
the business.
With Cloud Computing and VMware, your organisation can
achieve something truly unique. IT can innovate more rapidly
while maintaining reliability, security and governance for all
applications and services under its control. Your internal IT
team can more effectively match external suppliers’ more-
efficient business models and public rate cards, and build a
scalable, secure and manageable Cloud—your Cloud—that
addresses your organisation’s unique business challenges.
Your Cloud accelerates IT so that you can deliver results for
your business.

  • 12. 12 Please describe your company/activity/business EMC Corporation is a global leader in enabling businesses and service providers to transform their operations and deliver IT as a service. Fundamental to this transformation is Cloud Computing. Through innovative products and services, EMC accelerates the journey to Cloud Computing, helping IT departments to store, manage protect and analyse their most valuable asset-information-in a more agile, trusted and cost- efficient way. Please describe your relationship/partnership with EBRC (benefits, technological complementarity, market opportunities, common values, etc.) Over 15% of the worldwide offering of Tier IV Data Centres is concentrated in Luxembourg. A Tier IV Data Centre is the most stringent level of Data Centres, which is designed to host mission critical computer systems, with fully redundant subsystems and compartmentalised security zones. This is where EMC comes into play within the Trusted Managed Services offering from EBRC. In 2012, EBRC and EMC have signed a major partnership for the EBRC Trusted Backup and Restore Services (TBRS) in EBRC TrustedCloudEurope. The joint solution consists in a unique replicated BackUp solution to EBRC 2 Tier IV certified Data Centres (Uptime Institute, USA). In addition, due to its PSF Status, the information does not leave EBRC Data Centres in Luxembourg. The encrypted data remains the customer’s property. Both EBRC and EMC already have a track record in the banking industry in Luxembourg but this solution is also very attractive for e-commerce outlets and other companies looking for a secure and fully redundant Bakup and Restore “Pay-as-You-Go” Cloud solution. Please describe your perception of the market (trails, trends, innovations, etc.). Describe your role on the market (expertise, value creation, support to other businesses, etc.) EMC believes that to be competitive in the mobile and cloud era, businesses need to redefine themselves as software- defined enterprises, offering unique experiences to their customers on mobile devices and providing greater and more timely insight to business users. To achieve this, they must transform their IT infrastructures and operations. The best option for customers is to invest in best-of-breed, integrated technology solutions that take a software-defined approach to infrastructure and are architected horizontally, allowing them to select the market offerings that are right for their unique needs. Arnaud BACROS Country Manager EMC Belux luxembourg.emc.com EMC2 By building a completely virtualised and automated Software- Defined Data Centre, customers will lower the cost of running IT and provide the foundation for faster, more agile IT. This Software-Defined Data Centre provides a seamless cloud environment that can be extended from private cloud to the public cloud, forming a secure hybrid cloud – removing barriers to providing self-service and the highest service levels ever. To differentiate themselves, customers must build new applications in an agile way, with new platforms, and target those applications at mobile devices. Those mobile devices all need to be managed by IT to secure corporate information, while driving employee productivity and satisfaction. As enterprises start to store and analyse the massive data sets that are available, they will gain new insights about their customers and their business. This requires a “Data Lake” to store these vast amounts of information, and provide the ability to analyse and correlate it. Finally, an adaptive, data-driven approach to security that watches and analyses all activity is required to quickly recognise anomalies and act before it’s too late. Each company in the EMC Federation - EMC, VMware, Pivotal and RSA - provides unique products, services and expertise to deliver on these solutions. And while most vendors are building vertical stacks with no choice at the layers, our horizontally architected, software-defined approach includes both leading technologies and partner ecosystems to drive the new IT agenda – with customer choice.
  • 14. 14 Bernard LECANU Chairman www.eudca.com EUDCA THE EUROPEAN DATA CENTRE ASSOCIATION The European Data Centre Association has been established because the Data Centre industry believes that the time has come for it to have an organisation that is able to speak on its behalf and represent its interests. This united voice will give the industry more authority and standing when dealing with the various external bodies that affect the way it goes about its business. Who has set it up? The EUDCA has been set up by a group of leading companies who operate in the Data Centre industry. These founder members come from a number of European countries, they are drawn from across the various parts of the sector, and they range from major international companies to independent operators. What is it for? Its principal role will be to influence public policy at European level to ensure that its members can operate effectively without unnecessary regulation and in a business-friendly environment. The association also has an important function role in explaining to a wider audience its crucial role in the continued development of the digital economy and in ensuring that its major contribution is more widely recognised. What will it do? In the sphere of government and regulation the EUDCA’s direct role will be help guide policy in a direction that assists its members and the wider industry continue to develop and grow. In a number of areas the European Union and certain national governments are developing policies whose effect on the industry is not fully understood by those making the polices. The areas that need to be watched include energy, the environment, and planning. However, financial matters, including taxation, could emerge. The EUDCA will lobby to explain fully the industry’s concerns and position on these matters and to influence policy from the start of its development. There will be a need to put in place the facility for monitoring the European Parliament and possibly, at times, some of the national Parliaments. Linked to this process is explaining the key role the industry plays in the modern economy. This should position the industry as a force that is prepared to invest, contributes to growth, could provide jobs, and that therefore should not be burdened by unnecessary costs. This means there is an education role for the EUDCA in relation to opinion- formers. Part of this will be the full use of the modern media in its various forms. It is important that the EUDCA has its set of key messages that it can keep using, accompanied by regular comments on any issue that has an impact on the sector. Who can be members? The EUDCA will mainly have members operating within the European Union and Switzerland. What services will it offer? Apart from its public affairs and media roles the EUDCA will seek to raise standards across the industry: Professional development for those already working in the industry and training for those seeking to enter the sector. It might lead to a system of certification contributing to the professionalising of the whole industry. As the association develops it may offer other professional services that will benefit its members and increase the range of professional advice available. What does it hope to achieve? The goal of the EUDCA is to have a single voice that can speak on behalf of the Data Centre industry. There is no body that currently fulfils that function. The member companies will have more weight and power when they seek to influence policy and public perceptions. By having one body covering a wide variety of members, a more strategic approach will be developed to external threats or problems and clear, crisp and coherent messages should then evolve. The EUDCA will make it far easier for the Data Centre industry to explain both its achievements to a wider audience and why it is an increasingly vital part of everyday life in the digital age.

A 6-month-Proof of Concept was carried out in order to give FLASHiZ and EBRC values and feed-backs to adapt the environment with the high level of security and confidentiality requested by the CSSF. The POC was concluded by a successful external audit asked by the regulator validating the solution. All criteria were met to give FLASHiZ the green flag to start their business. Cloud Computing has been since day one in the heart of FLASHiZ’s development, offering quick provisioning in line with rapid transactions growth. Now that the product has been launched and attracts a growing number of consumers, the next step is to implement FLASHiZ’s strong international growth plan. Ontopofitshigh-endsecuritylevel,EBRCTrustedCloudEurope and TrustedManagedServices innovative approach has also been a key element to support FLASHiZ. • 20. 20 Marc LAZARD CEO www.opendatasoft.com Please describe your company/activity/business OpenDataSoft is a turnkey SaaS platform designed for smart and easy transformation of all types of data into innovative services (APIs, data visualizations, real-time monitoring). Its mission: make it easier for anyone to publish, share and reuse data. Business users daily deal with lots of data but don’t extract all their value. OpenDataSoft helps them monetize their data on the Web and through applications. With OpenDataSoft, any non-tech user can turn any data into interactive data visualizations and share it everywhere on the Web (social media, website embeds) and into APIs to build innovative business applications. OpenDataSoft’s approach is unique: • the platform is turnkey and SaaS, making it very easy to launch comprehensive portals in hours • our pricing model is based on usage (data volume and API queries) • our platform allows simple integration into Web and mobile applications • our data visualizations are state-of-the art (automatic generation of maps and graphs, embed feature...) Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Paris, France, OpenDataSoft powers data sharing portals for customers such as the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, the Paris Region, the City of Brussels, the French National Railway Company, Veolia, m2ocity. Please describe your relationship/partnership with EBRC (benefits, technological complementarity, market opportunities, common values, etc.) OpenDataSoft, EBRC InTech have developed an Open- Data-as-a-Service solution to simplify information access with dedicated expertise and a turnkey SaaS platform: • data is stored in EBRC TrustedCloudEurope, • datasets are published with the OpenDataSoft platform in the secured TrustedCloudEurope environment, • integration and customization are delivered by InTech. Storage quality, processing publishing in a single interface, and quick integration are the key elements of the solution. Customers are guaranteed the highest level of efficiency and security for their data. Please describe your perception of the market (trails, trends, innovations, etc.). Describe your role on the market (expertise, value creation, support to other businesses, etc.) With Web 2.0, a whole new generation of Web interactions has emerged: intuitive interfaces, drag’n’drops, WYSIWYG… Business users are now looking for the same types of features at home and in the work place. They need user-friendly solutions that have been designed for them and not for tech people. When working with complex data, they also need to instantly understand what the data are about. Data visualizations (charts, maps, graphs…) are key elements in the increasingly data-driven processes and tasks. Besides, business applications are unavoidable. It is important to ease data integration into these applications, for example with APIs. These fundamental issues are at the core of OpenDataSoft’s development. OpenDataSoft
