Okarito kiwis are
said to live up to
100 years.
Even when in captivity
Kiwis revert back to wild
instincts and are
aggressive.
The Kiwi is one of the oldest
remaining bird species and one
of many flightless birds from
New Zealand.
Only three white Kiwis have
been hatched in captivity.
The only species of Kiwi to be
hatched outside of New Zealand is
the Northern brown Kiwi.

The Kiwi is a type of flightless bird.
That inhabits New Zealand.

had very few large predators so the
Kiwi evolved into not needing wings to
escape.

bones instead of being

The Kiwi lays a big egg so that
when it hatches the chick is
very developed and mature.
The Kiwi egg gets so big that
the mother has to eat three
times as much food and fast
the last few days because of
how compressed its organs
are.
The Kiwi chick hatches with its eyes fully
open and leaves the territory after 4-6 weeks.
