E. They industrial center is Bangkok which is also big
for tourism
F. 61.8 million people live here and practice Buddhism

A. Is landlocked and covered with mountains
B. The Mekong River offers some fertile land
where they grow rice, sugarcane, sweet
potatoes & corn.
C. Civil war allowed for a communist state to be set
up
D. They are economically poor and lack
industrialization
E. The government discourages religion but most
are Buddhists

A. Has a tropical climate and is covered with
waterways
B. Was a rich farming country that exports rice &
rubber until dictators and civil war ruined their
country
C. Today they are trying to rebuild and become
more industrialized
D. Most of the 11.9 million people are Buddhists
but have a rich history in Hinduism from the
Khmer Empire and temple of Angkor

A. Their tropical climate and river or swamp covered
land are good for growing rice, sugarcane, cassava,
sweet potatoes, corn, bananas, & coffee
B. Industry is undeveloped because of wars and
government control
C. The 79.5 million people live in the rural areas and

D. During the 1960s the Vietnam War was fought
between China’s communists and the U.S.. Once
the U.S. withdrew the country became communists
but they have loosened control to industrialized

A. Is an archipelago of 7,000 islands
B. The 74.7 million Filipinos live of 11 of these
islands
C. Volcanoes & forest help fertile soil and they
grow sugarcane, coconuts & abaca from banana
leaves
D. It is named after King Philip II of Spain who
established the colony until the U.S. took it over
in 1898. It became independent at the end of
WWII
E. They are the only Christian country in Asia
