Reasons to visit our town
It was given the title of “city” in 2001. With 14 756 inhabitants Gafanha da Nazaré was a town of fishermen and workers related to “seca
de bacalhau” (process of drying cod).
The lighthouse was built
between 1885 and 1893. Its
original power source was
petrol.

Costa Nova – typical houses
These houses are made of wood. They are small and
were originally fishermen homes. The colours of the
stripes were the same within the same family to
identify its members.
Oudinot Garden Maritime Museum
If you visit this Museum you can easily understand how deeply
our region depends on the Sea.

good place for picnics and to spend time
with the family.

Museum Boat - St André.
