2. WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT?
Google has announced it will be releasing three new Nexus devices next year:
the Nexus 6 smartphone, the Nexus 9 tablet, and the Nexus Player, a set-top
box for movies and games.
3. NEXUS PLAYER
Excitingly, the Nexus Player marks the introduction of Android TV. It is a
streaming media device built by Asus and features an Intel chip.
The apps for the set-top box will have to comply with a new set of guidelines,
including supporting a remote control. Apps will not be added to the Android TV’s
version of the Google Play store until they adhere to guidelines to avoid user
frustration.
In addition, it will let people play Android games from their phones to their TV
screens.
4. NEXUS 6 PHONE
The Nexus 6 is a smartphone made by Motorola with a 6 inch display. It has a
13-megapixel camera and 2 front facing speakers.
Impressively, its 3220 mAh battery can be charged for only 15 minutes and still
last up to 6 hours later.
5. NEXUS 9 TABLET
The Nexus 9 is a 9 inch tablet with an 8.9 inch screen made by HTC. It has been
designed with a two position keyboard that attaches magnetically, very similar to
Microsoft’s Surface tablets.
Google have learnt from previous versions, as the 4:3 aspect ratio has been
designed to be better suited to productivity apps than earlier Android tablets
proved to be.
