EXPERIENCE STATEMENT
I am an experienced Project Services and Risk Management professional
with a broad track record of success across a wide range of Project skills.
Commencing with engineering experience my career has covered many
areas of project control. I can demonstrate strong knowledge in many forms
of project service processes, including procedures, risk management,
portfolio & project control, planning, estimating, and project benchmarking.

I have acted as a Project Services consultant with BP from 2008, to the
present day. For the last 2.5 years to the current day I have been the PSM for
BP worldwide small modification projects. The work spans all locations within
BP Operations (a portfolio of 10 functional regions, some 1200 active projects
and an $800million yearly spend). I cover both offshore and onshore projects;
influencing a community of 10 PSMs. The work includes promoting a
performance culture, reporting, procedures, and training and development of
staff. Previous to that (for approx. two years) I was the PSM for BPs CASIS
(Controls Alarms and Safety Instrumented Systems) project. The project was
all about renewing all BPs instrumented layers of protection on 110 producing
assets.
From 2008 to 2012 my work as a consultant for BP covered a wide scope.
With multiple contractual relationships over the period. Areas of work were –
PSM for BP Angola new fields (2 years). BP representative on
“abandonment” for Angola. PSM for Bouharet (a large Algerian gas field).
PSM for an Algerian gas recovery project. PSM for a Libya Oil spill response
team. Subject matter expert for recruiting 12 planners. Subject matter expert
for renewing coordination procedures with BP selected engineering
contractors. Also worked for a few months in 2012 for Centrica (via Turner &
Townsend) as SME for writing Centrica project control procedures.

Nov 2006 to 2008.
Job Title: Project Services Manager - Duties: To provide full range of
Project Services on the Block 18 Gas Export Project, an Angolan deep water
gas export pipeline. Duties include management of Cost/Schedule/Contracts.
April 2001 to Nov 2006.
Job Title: Project Excellence Team Leader - Duties: To provide Project
expertise to the BP Angola Business. Creating a project management
community to promote best project practises. The work covered procedures,
contractor management, risk management, project control, cost estimates,
planning support, benchmarking and knowledge management for both
operated/non-operated projects. A major element being liaison with Total and
Exxon for non-operated projects including the Angola Gas, Kizomba A and B,
Dalia, Rosa and Girassol. A portfolio of projects with costs of circa $20billion.
June 1998 – April 2001
Job Title: Principal Consultant - Cost Planning Risk
Duties: To manage the BP Sunbury cost planning and risk group (8
consultants) as part of Group Project Support. The group, provided risk
analysis services, cost estimating, scheduling, project control, training,
resourcing, and benchmarking, across BP businesses. Principle role being
project reviews and risk based attestation of cost estimates and schedules for
project approval. An annualised budget of over $3billion was supported
Sept 1995 - June 1998: Employer: BP Exploration Colombia
Job Title: Project Services Manager - Piedemonte Phase 1 Project
Duties: To develop project execution scenarios. Manage Contracts, Risk
management, Cost estimating, Cost Control, Schedules, Procedures,
Contractual Partner Relationships, and Project Team organisation.
Piedemonte was a US$2 Billion project producing 300 MBPD of condensate.
With 15 staff, the work covered preparation of ITBs for contracts, and 200
smaller contracts.

Job Title: Senior Consultant Planning & Risk Analysis Skills Group
Duties: To organise the Group to provide a responsive, high quality service
to all BP Businesses. Utilising 11 staff, the work was for front-end study, and
consultancy on capital projects. Major task was to support, review and

risk analysis. Training staff in Project Services was an important element.
Sept 85 - Apr 89: Employer: Shell UK Exploration and Production
Job Title: Head of Planning Central Engineering Group (UK)
Duties: Responsible for reporting and cost/planning support on 15 projects
including Osprey, Gannet, Tern, Eider, Sole Pit. Providing cost and schedule
risk analysis, planning consultancy, system support, benchmarking and
project development within the New Fields Development Dept.
Sep 80 - Sep 85: Employer: Eurolog Ltd.
Job Title: Senior Consultant
Duties: To provide Risk Management and Project Services consultancy.
Two years (84/85) spent on secondment to Elf Aquitaine Norge assigned
to the Heimdal Oil Platform Project. Carrying out risk management work on
all aspects of the project, especially on cost/planning, and finalising work to
hook-up and commission the platform.
Three years (80/84) on secondment to Phillips Petroleum as Head of
Topsides Risk Management and Cost/Planning for the Maureen Platform.
One year in Head Office thereafter, at Kishorn site (Scotland) for 2 years as
Services Manager for inshore installation mating and final hook-up.
April 77 - Sept 80: Employer: Foster Wheeler Ltd.
Job Title: Project Engineer
Duties: One year planning final stages of construction of Sullom Voe
offsites. Six months with BP Development Ltd. to plan (on-site)
commissioning for 1st gas. Two years as a Project Engineer on a 35,000
BPSD oil refinery.
Sept 73 - April 77: Employer: R. P. Scherer Ltd Pharmaceuticals
Job Title: Assistant Chief Engineer
Duties: Administered the engineering workshop, maintenance activities and
associated plant modifications. Increased the plants capacity by 50%.
June 72 - Sept 73: Employer: GKN Vandervell Products
Job Title: Production Engineer
Duties: Design and installation of a thin wall bearings production plant. A
patent was drawn up in my name.
University Education Oct 69 - Jun 72
Newcastle University as an ICI sponsored student. Obtained an honours
degree in Mechanical Engineering and the Frank Robinson Book Prize for
“outstanding achievements in Production Engineering”.

4. Jul 64 - Oct 69: Employer ICI Ltd Wilton Works.
Craft and Technical Apprentice. ONC and HNC on day release. Apprentice of
the year 1969. Worked on Oil Works, Nylon, Olefines and Plants.
