1. The "half-wave" term means that the length of
this dipole antenna is equal to a half-wave
length at the frequency of operation. It is well
known that the centre of a half wave antenna
is approximately 73 ohms impedance. That is
why the formula for a half wave (in feet) is
492/F while the formula for a half wave
antenna is 468/F (assuming a thin conductor).
As the conductor is made thicker, the element
will need to be even shorter. If the half
wave antenna is ground mounted and you
have a ground rod, that's where the currents
will go. This will give a good SWR but be
more loss because of the power being
dumped into the dirt.

2. Device antennas are typically designed as quarterwave or half wave As
a rule of thumb, quarterwave antennas require a ground plane but half
wave antennas are ground plane independent and do not need a ground
plane to operate
3. However, most M2M antennas show improved performance with a
larger ground plane The Delta 9 is a half wave whip antenna with SMA
male connector
4. The Delta 9 is overmoulded in black engineering plastic offering a UV
and weather proof resistance to the half wave whip tuned to 433MHz via
its SMA male connector Offering a wide frequency range, the Delta 9
is also suitable for operating between 428 and 438MHz in radio
installations capable of transmitting up to 35 Watts power
