2. The park of Vikos-Aoos This Greek park covers 12 225 ha. It consists of the mountains and gorges of Aoos which are the deepest ones in Europe.

3. The fauna There are big predators such as the brown bear (and the wolf (Canis lupus). We also meet the otter of Europe (Lutra lutra) there, the golden jackal (Canis aureus) and the wildcat (Felis silvestris) as well as the others smaller carnivores.

More… Wild goat (Capra aegagrus) and the chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra) live on the steep rocky hillsides whereas roe deers (Capreolus capreolus) and the wild boars (Known scrofa) live in the dense forests. There are numerous and varied species of birds such as thegreen woodpeckers for example. In two main rivers of the park lives an interesting population of fauna of fresh water: fishes, insects, reptiles and amphibians.
