2. Everybody wants to win. Winning gives a certain pride and joy that keeps you wanting it more. Winning
becomes a motivating factor for a person to do his best so he can reap the rewards. But then winning doesn’t
happen all the time. Sometimes you have to lose, and this can be disheartening. But for some, winning is not
just the result of a certain contest or competition. It is a state of mind that strives for excellence and prevails
even at the face of failure. Here’s how to develop that winning spirit.
PLAN. Planning is a crucial part of winning. It gives you a step by step guide on what to do base on a
certain scenario. But make sure that the plan is clear and achievable for you. There’s no point on
making a plan that you yourself do not believe in following through. Also make room for changes if
ever circumstances change.
WRITE YOUR MISSION. Having a winning mindset means having a mission statement that will
outline your goals. Always refer to it to make sure that your plans are in-line with your goals. In
addition, a mission statement will help you stay motivated and keep your eyes on your target.
3. BE OPEN TO OPPORTUNITIES. Once a plan has been laid out, always make sure that it is
followed especially if it’s the best way to achieve a goal. However, your mind shouldn’t be set on
stone whenever an opportunity arises. Always consider if there are other ways to do things better. And
if there is a better way, be like water and adapt a new plan efficiently and effectively.
HELP OTHERS. Your winning spirit shouldn’t restrict you to just attending to your own needs.
Helping others achieve their goals is one sure way to win. Why? Because when you help others win, it
empowers you. You establish yourself as a key player who knows how to make things better
regardless if it’s within your agenda or not.
4. LEARN. If winning is your goal, pride shouldn’t have a room in your heart. Regardless of how
confident or high you think of yourself, there are always opportunities to learn. Listen to what other
people have to say and learn from them.
STAY POSITIVE. Sometimes even when a plan has been laid out, there will always be a situation
that will throw you off-balance. And this usually results to a ruined plan or even failure. Do not let
that get you down. Always stay positive especially in difficult situations. Not only it will help you get
through tough situations, but it will also open your mind for a new beginning.
5. Whenever you’re in doubt, always search for that winning spirit inside of you and know that it never gives up.
Combine that with the right attitude, winning will never be a problem.
“Winning is not a sometime thing; it’s an all-time thing. You don’t win once in a while, you don’t do things
right once in a while, you do them right all the time. Winning is habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.”
~Vince Lombardi
