What is CountrySTAT ?
Why do we need CountrySTAT?
7. Core = National Core (FAOSTAT) :
Data per year at national level.
Data published under this area and
the related domains follow
FAOSTAT concepts, standards and
definitions.

How are Statistical Data organized
in CountrySTAT
8. Sub National Statistics:
The same domains as the Core with
disaggregated data at sub-national
level.
Data can be disseminated per
Geographical Area (Administrative levels),
Local Products (a description of local
product and its main category is required)
and time (Year and/or Month)

Global Strategy (Minimum Set of
Core Data)
It includes the key variables of the
four groups (Economic, Social,
Environmental and Geographic
Location) to be collected by a larger
number of stakeholders for each
country

13. Thematic Modules:
All other relevant indicators for the
national statistics
the system is flexible so here different
folders can be created according to
the needs of each Country

14. National Institutions:
Data coming from single
national institutions as
required by the country

15. International Partners:
Data coming from
international organizations,
associations, etc. relevant to
the country

16. You have enough domains to publish all data with
the current tree !
27/01/2014 17
But the CountrySTAT national administrator can add
more areas and domains (except for Core and sub-
national) to fit your needs:
• Adding other domains than agricultures (transport,
health etc…) ;
• Adding more disaggregated data;

Create your
table following
the rules
Fill the cells
with your
values
Upload in

Structure is valid:
Your table has
been published
Error message:
Check the structure
of the table (core,
sub-nat, or other?)
Check the codes
Check the metadata
Fill it with the
values, insert
codes

27. Statistical framework (concepts,
definitions and classifications):
To ensure comparability and consistency of
data on agriculture and food among different
countries.

and Classifications)
28. International codes
Example of CountrySTAT website table
Statistics Pillar (Concepts,
Definitions and Classifications)
A topic of primary
importance is the
international codes
for commodities
29. In order to understand and compare data in CountrySTAT framework, coherence
is necessary between data of Core and Sub-National domains, with the
recommendations of international standards.
To do this, it is necessary to find a correspondence of agro-biological
characteristics between the various local products related to major products
classified by FAO international classification with a correspondence table
between the two classifications.

and Classifications)
30. Two ways of getting the codes:

and

definitions and
correspondences

If you look for “wheat” you
will have all this list of
products
