Best Practices in Green Supply Chain Management: An Exploratory

Abstract
The GSCM (Green Supply Chain Management) is a fast growing concept in India. The green
supply chain management is a sort of modern management mode which could comprehensively
consider the environmental influence and resource utilization efficiency in the whole supply chain
and how to implement the green supply chain management in special industrial operation at
present has become into one of hotspot problems. In other word(s) it is optimal decision making
during supply chain activities by considering the environmental influence.
The issue of green supply chain management has received attention among manufacturing
practice and research.
GSCM initiatives deliver bottom line benefits. Companies are trying to greener their supply chain
to reduce the cost of production to win the competitive advantage. They are also trying to make
their production process eco-friendly.
This research is the study of all the different practices that are undergoing for GSCM in Indian
companies. This research starts with the importance of GSCM to the company in different levels
and studies various factors that are important to influence the company for adoption of the GSCM
and tangible and intangible benefits of GSCM practice using case study approach of a cement

2. firm engaged in mining and grinding, packaging, distribution; a black carbon manufacturing
company which supplies input to tire manufacturing companies, printers ink manufacturing
companies and for other chemical industries which uses black carbon as an important ingredient
and a Steel manufacturing unit.
Here researchers aim to propose a framework to improve the overall performance of the various
firms operating in the specific industries. The research objective(s) are:
1. To identify the benchmark practices of the GSCM and its performance.
2. To propose a framework on the basis of secondary survey, which can be empirically
tested to further validate the GSCM framework of three sectors
3. To recommend initiatives for managerial implications of the study
