2. Eurovision Song Contest
2013
• Eurovision 2013 will take place at Malmo Arena in
Malmo, Sweden on May 14th, 16th and 18th 2013
• Sweden won the right to host Eurovision 2013 after
Loreen triumphed with her song, Euphoria, in Baku,
Azerbaijan in May 2012
• Three Swedish cities submitted bids to the
European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to host the
contest – Malmo, Stockholm and Gothenburg.
• Malmo was chosen as host city due to its excellent
transport links and accommodation.
4. Malmo arena: facts
• Malmo Arena opened in Novemeber 2008. Capacity
is 13,000 for sports and 15,500 for concerts.
• Situated in the Hyllie district of the city.
• Malmo Arena has direct and extensive travel links
from all across Sweden and over the Danish border
into Copenhagen.
• Malmo Arena annually hosts the semi-finals of
Melodifestvalen – Sweden’s Eurovision selection
show, the most-watched annual broadcast in the
entire country.
5. Eurovision 2013: united
kingdom
• International superstar, Bonnie Tyler will represent
the United Kingdom in Malmo with her song, Believe
In Me
6. Eurovision 2013: denmark
• 20-year-old Emmelie de Forest will fly the flag for
Denmark with her own song, Only Teardrops.
• Emmelie is tipped as one of the hot favourites to win
the contest.
7. Eurovision 2013: Sweden
• Host nation, Sweden will be represented by Robin
Stjernberg with his song ‘You’.
8. Eurovision 2013: the
concept
• The iconic butterfly logo represents the mix of colour
that Eurovision will bring to Malmo and the butterfly
itself is a symbol of the beauty of the host city.
• The tagline ‘We Are One’ encapsulates the feeling
that the Eurovision family is together as one and
Sweden is more than ready to open its arms to fans
from all over Europe and the world.
• The two semi-finals and Grand Final will be
broadcast live across Europe and on delayed
transmission to countries as far afield as Australia,
New Zealand and the USA
