2. Objectives
> Know what animation is
>Understand that there are different methods
which can be used to create animations
>Be able to create a simple frame-by-frame
animation in PowerPoint
3. What is Animation?
Turn to the person next to you and
discuss
what animation means to you.
Try giving some examples.
4. How do you animate?
•Animation is a visual technique (skill) that provides the
illusion that something is moving
•You can do this by putting together a collection of images
which you display one after another very quickly
•Each image contains only a small change for the
animation to move smoothly and look realistic
(eg: a leg moves slowly so that eventually the figure looks
like it is walking)
5. Stop Frame Animation
• Stop frame motion is an animation technique (skill) to
make an object appear to move on its own.
• Sometimes it is called stop motion or clay motion
animation
• Within this unit we will experiment with animation
software, in order to appreciate how many frames it
takes to produce a smooth animation.
• We will start by creating a simple animation in
PowerPoint
6. Creating a stop frame animation in
PowerPoint
I want to create the
illusion that the ball is
rolling along the grass.
How would I do this?
7.
8. Click on slide 1.
Right click and select “duplicate
slide” or press CTRL and D
9. Select the ball. Press the right arrow
key on your keyboard 3 times to move
it and also slightly turn the handle on
the shape to make it “roll”
You then need to duplicate the slide
again and repeat the process. You will
need about 30-35 slide (frames)
altogether and play the slideshow back
to test the animation works
10. PLENARY
> What is meant by the term animation?
> Explain the different animation methods
> What have you learned when creating your
own animation?
