2. KEEP IT SHORT
Keep your email as brief
as possible (under 200
words) and to-the-point.
3. PERSONALIZE
Don’t write a generic email (e.g. “Dear
customers,”). Personalized emails improve
click-through rates by 14%, and conversion
rates by 10%. (Source: Hubspot)
4. SET UP NEXT STEPS
Acknowledge that your prospect is free to
take the next step or not. Simple
acknowledgements like this can double your
chances of continuing communication.
5. STAY RELEVANT
Don’t quote statistics
about how an
enterprise software
company won
customers if you’re
pitching to a mom and
pop shop.
6. BE HELPFUL
Focusing on customer’s needs and insecurity
is more effective than pushing the value of the
product. In some studies, a “customer centric”
approach increases the likelihood of a
response by 5x (MarketingExperiments.com).
7. WATCH YOUR LANGUAGE
Use correct grammar and check spelling.
Before sending, quickly read your email to
yourself.
8. USE AN ENGAGING SUBJECT LINE
No need to be clever. Keep it simple &
specific. Instead of just “Follow-up,” write:
“How to save costs with email marketing”
9. DON’T BE OVERLY PUSHY
Don’t put the cart before the horse. If the
prospect hasn’t explicitly voiced interest,
save pricing, packaging, etc. for later.
10. INCLUDE A PROFESSIONAL SIGNATURE
State your name, job role, phone #, and
include a link to your company’s website. If
your Linkedin Profile is up-to-date, include
a link.
