  1. Headquartered in Bethesda, Md., Lockheed Martin is a premier systems integrator principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration, and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products, and services. The Lockheed Martin Corporation is made up of four principal business areas: Aeronautics, Electronic Systems, Space Systems, and Information Systems and Global Services. Collectively, these operations employ approximately 136,000 individuals around the world. Missiles and Fire Control is part of the Electronic Systems business area. About 50% of Lockheed Martin’s business is in Aeronautics and Space, which has highly visible products: airplanes and spacecraft The other 50% of Lockheed Martin’s business is in Electronic Systems and Information Systems & Global Services, which include sea-based missile defense capabilities installed in surface ships, as well as the Littoral Combat Ship program. Less visible products that are key to these business areas are systems engineering, software, and information technology. Headquartered in Bethesda, Md., Lockheed Martin is a premier systems integrator principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration, and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products, and services.
  2. We are proud of our heritage of partnering with our customers and sharing a unified vision: to deliver the technologies customers need to address their most pressing priorities and achieve success at their defining moments. Lockheed Martin has grown to over 133,000 strong. We employee more than 68,000 scientists, engineers and IT professionals who make up 50% of our workforce. We hire approximately five percent of all engineers produced in American colleges and universities—or about 4,000 people. Every year, Lockheed Martin employees donate over a million hours of voluntary assistance to their local communities. We have over 1,000 facilities in 500 cities in 50 states throughout the U.S. and we do business in 75 countries. Lockheed Martin was ranked 44 on the 2010 Fortune 500 list. In 2008, we were added to the Fortune 500 Green Power list for reducing our environmental impact with increased purchases of renewable energy.
  3. This shows Lockheed Martin’s 2009 sales by customer.
  4. As restated following a business realignment in 2Q10, Electronic Systems generated $13.5 billion in sales in 2009 and Aeronautics generated $12.2 billion. IS&GS generated $10.2 billion followed by Space with $8.6 billion. Electronic Systems led the Corporation in terms of earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) and margins. Electronic Systems generated $1.66 billion of EBIT in 2009. Delivering Disciplined Performance In today’s competitive global marketplace, there is no substitute for meeting commitments and expectations – whether that’s operational or financial performance. Disciplined Performance means striving to be the partner of choice, supplier of choice, and employer of choice. We have a well-balanced portfolio of businesses that enables us to help our customers meet their most challenging goals… In defense and security … In delivering vital government services to the public…
  5. Electronic Systems has a balanced business portfolio that includes both weapon systems and knowledge-driven products. • We employ approximately 45,000 people – including many engineers, scientists and test personnel. Approximately 36,400 work in our Mission Systems and Sensors, Missiles and Fire Control and Global Training and Logistics businesses, and approximately 8,600 work at the Sandia National Laboratories. • Sandia and the UK Atomic Weapons Establishment program, in which we participate as JV partners, are management contracts on which we earn fees but do not book revenues. For financial reporting purposes, the Global Training and Logistics business includes Sandia and the Advanced Technology Laboratories, and Missiles and Fire Control includes the Atomic Weapons Establishment The Mission Systems and Sensors organization is reported separately • We operate at 20 primary locations with 500 or more people … in 27 U.S. States and the District of Columbia … as well as in Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia • We execute on approximately 3,400 contracts on behalf of customers at any point in time • We have a broad customer base including (in descending order of sales volume) the U.S. Department of Defense, international defense agencies, civil government customers such as postal services in the U.S. and abroad, and the U.S. Department of Energy.
  6. Our Vision, Values and Mission… We operate under the fundamental business principle that “Our business is not the objective…it is the result. Performance is our objective.”
