8. Changes to A Levels Most subjects will be reduced from six units to four in order to reduce the burden of assessment. 10. Diplomas The Diploma is a new qualification that combines theoretical study with practical experience and is being rolled out over the next five years. By 2011, there will be 17 Diploma subjects available in England. From 2013, entitlement to an Apprenticeship place for all suitably qualified young people to be introduced.

Implications of Apprenticeships Getting paid while you train will be a major incentive for young people who are NEET (Not in Employment Education or Training) Gaining experience within a chosen industry will help students secure a job afterwards Apprenticeships can help target kinesthetic learners who learn by doing rather than reading and listening
