Shipmates,
Thanks to your Sailors for ramping up on what promises to be a very dynamic 2012 - lots of exciting opportunities ahead of us!
A couple of highlights from attached slide:
-BOLD ALLIGATOR 2012 (quote from ADM Harvey: "demonstrating our uniquely Naval, rpt Naval, ability to establish a sea base and conduct and sustain a wide range of expeditionary operations from the sea")
-Bicentennial celebration of WAR OF 1812 (quote from CNO's latest post: "great year to celebrate our heritage and the bicentennial of the War of 1812, it is a good time for us to reflect on where we came from. A lot of lessons that we learned in 1812 are still pertinent today, such as the importance of innovation and being ready.")
Lots of heavy lifting to be done as we sharpen the saw and showcase the Navy-Marine Corps team during Bold Alligator 2012. Photo with multi-colored dots (104) on bottom left of quad-slide shows how many times our Sailors and Marines have answered the call and deployed our expeditionary amphib forces since the end of the Cold War.
Lots to learn and get inspired from the hard work, pride in naval service, loyalty to nation, dedication and innovation of those who have gone before us and fought the War of 1812 - a war that has been described as America's "Second War for Independence".
Picture on bottom right of quad-slide shows innovative Sailors from the USS CONSTITUTION evading the 170 guns of HMS Africa, HMS Shannon, HMS Belvidera & HMS Aeolus through "kedging" http://t.co/CU3FgODu.
From last week's announcements on Defense Strategic Guidance and other current events to ongoing work in support of CNO's 3 tenets (Warfighting First, Operate Forward, Be Ready), our CTF20 Commander, VADM Buss, emphasized at the first two MUBs of 2012 how "good, solid horizontal and vertical communications" can and will serve as the glue that bonds success with Fleet Operations.
Have added, on this note, the familiar Block 38 as the last banner on bottom of the slide - a reminder to us, all fellow senior enlisted, on our CPO Guiding Principle of "Active Communications" and how our communication, questioning attitude, energized information flow to/from Chiefs Messes can and will contribute to successful Fleet Operations.
Thanks for your leadership.
