2. Background:
The Mindanao that we know today is a land
of mixed faith, cultures and beliefs.
Cultural diversity defines and influences
the relationships among the tri-people. It’s
one reality that we Mindanaons face, along
with some advantages and disadvantages
that come with it.

3. Background:
Cultural differences tend to make it more
complicated and difficult for three groups
of people to know and relate with each
other, or li together in a community. You
have a situation that tends to lend itself to
misunderstanding, mistrust and mutual
suspicion, chauvinism, or animosity.

4. Background:
But the tri-people share the same fundamental
belief in justice, democracy and selfdetermination. Peace Education aims to foster
the values and attitudes conducive to living
harmoniously and peacefully amid cultural
diversity. It seeks to achieve state of oneness
among the tri-peoples. Thus, it works to
promote tolerance good well and respect for
understanding of diversity among young
people.

9. Introduction:
The Peace Education Initiatives Build on one
simple proposition: We all want Peace.
We take inspiration from the words of Mahatma
Gandhi – “If we are to reach real peace in the
world and if we are to carry on a real war
against war, we shall have to begin with the
children”…
www.themegallery.com
10. and the words of Maria Montessori ring true: “If
salvation and help are to come, it is through the
child, for the child is the builder of man – she is
“promise of mankind”
Working for peace requires particular urgency,
not apart from the children, but through the
children;

11. Peace Education Initiatives:
The Heart of Education is the Education
of the Heart. Formation of values is the
foremost concerns of education. Peace is
a process. It is dynamic and holistic. We
can not just put it in paper and forget
about it. It must be nurtured and taught to
the pupils and teachers as well.
Education is the permanent solution to
our situation.
