Francesca Mondello of Telecom Italia presented new perspectives for intelligent transportation system (ITS) services. Telecom Italia has assets like its mobile network, broadband infrastructure, and applications platforms that enable ITS services. These services can be vehicle-based using on-board units, user-centered through mobile devices, or support infomobility and sustainability goals. Examples of services discussed include fleet management, public transport information, stolen vehicle recovery, and location-based SMS alerts. Telecom Italia aims to partner with other companies and organizations to create new ITS offerings that leverage its network capabilities.
