8 Key Traits of Great Leaders
Today’s leaders face more pressure and scrutiny than at any time in recent history. As a result, leaders need to be ready to perform in ways beyond the basic functional CEO role to move their organizations forward.
A Great Leader has  Unquestionable Integrity and Authenticity.  Leads by actions more than words. Ethical leadership sets the tone for a corporate culture.  Leaders must be viewed with unquestioned integrity with the authenticity to take action and root out those who do not meet the ethical standards of the company.
A Great Leader  Attracts, Develops and Retains Great People. Great leaders have ability to inspire people to achieve. They surround themselves with great people and are magnets for attracting talented staff.
A Great Leader is a  Visionary Communicator. A leader must have not only clear vision of the possibilities and the preferred future for their organization vision but, ability to express that vision to investors, staff, customers and partners in a way that inspires achievement.
A Great Leader  Thinks Strategically and Executes Tactically. Great leaders have good ideas and the ability to successfully implement them.  Even a modest idea well executed is better than a great strategy that never got off the ground.
A Great Leader is  Technologically Savvy. A great leader utilizes technology to achieve business results. With the current frenzied pace of change, the thoughtful utilization of technology may make the difference between success and failure.
A Great Leader has a   Macro Perspective Great leaders must have an endless curiosity of the world around them and maintain a high level view of the external forces that may impact the company including the economy, technology, markets, politics, industry trends, regionalized differentiation and so forth.
A Great Leader  Embraces Change with Good Judgment and Prudent Risk Taking Today’s business environment is in a constant state of flux and requires a leader with the ability to respond quickly with balanced level of risk. The leader must be able to act boldly and with courage then have the tenacity and persistence to follow through with change to a successful conclusion.
A Great Leader has  Broad Financial Acumen Today’s leader must know not only how to conduct financial triage but also understand the value of soft assets such as Intellectual property, staff expertise and customer loyalty and know how to appropriately leverage these. (Financial micromanagement is a trap for weak leaders.)
