A working prototype of a Digital Radio Mondiale [DRM] radio receiver has been
unveiled at the IFA consumer electronics exhibition in Berlin by
STMicroelectronics and Kenwood. The radio delivers FM-like sound quality
through reception of DRM-encoded stations on existing long, medium and
short wave bands.
Riccardo Ferrari, general manager of STMicroelectronics’ digital broadcasting
radio division, said: “Working closely with Kenwood and Fraunhofer IIS, and
collaborating with them from the early stages of the project, allows us to
provide a complete, fully functional infotainment solution for DRM that will
excite the radio market in the coming years.”
