Abstract:
In this seminar it is aimed at presenting a
clear idea about the basics of wind energy
and the aerodynamics behind the design of
wind turbine blades.

• Wind Power: Conversion of wind energy
into a useful form of energy.
ex. wind turbine, wind mills, wind pumps
• Wind turbine: A wind turbine is a device
that converts kinetic energy from the wind
into electrical power.

Importance of Wind Energy
1. A country will become more self-sufficient by using
alternatives such as wind power.
2. No CO₂ emissions
3. Creates jobs.
4. Can be used for charging batteries or can be
combined with a diesel engine to save fuel

1. Aerofoil structure
2. Long and slender blades
3. The span wise velocity component is much
lower than the stream wise component
4. Hence it is assumed that the flow at a given
radial position is 2-D and that 2-D aerofoil data
can be applied.

Conclusion:
1. Wind energy is gaining importance all over the world
and it is important to study the technology behind it
so that one can be able to harness more power from
wind energy.
2. Countries like India should involve in R&D projects
related to it and should generate more power from
wind energy so that the dependence on coal will be
reduced which reduces the import of coal.
