GREAT netbook! And here's how to avoid videochat problems..., Jan 11 ,2010
R. Wolfe (Pasadena, CA)
I bought this Netbook back in November as a gift to myself so that I could have a truly portable laptop for traveling. Between the 6-7 hour battery (I've never had it
work longer than that, but I'm not complaining!) and its VERY light weight, I've been COMPLETELY satisfied! The keyboard was easy to get used to, as was the
smaller screen. Overall, I've been so pleased that a few weeks ago I bought one for my boyfriend as well. TWO WORDS OF CAUTION/ADVICE: if you want to
use Skype, download the Beta version. I couldn't get the newest version to work - the camera wouldn't turn on. But the Beta version works just fine. ALSO, neither
Skype nor Gmail chat work well unless the netbook is plugged into the wall. If you try to use it on battery power alone, it stutters, freezes, sounds horrible, etc., etc.
But plug it in and you're good to go!!! I wish someone had told me this from the beginning - would have saved me endless hours of time and aggravation. But now
that the problem is solved, I am once again in love with this computer!
Functional, ergonomic, cute!, Jan 10 ,2010

For an easier read, I'll break it up:
What I liked: The keyboard is fantastic. It really is almost the same size as a normal laptop keyboard, which means I can still touch-type. I like the trackpad, it is not
perfectly smooth but a bit bumpy- not something I had ever seen before, but easy to get used to, and it responds well. The screen is bright and crisp, and slightly
matte so there's no glare if I use it in bright light. The integrated webcam is great quality for the price/size of the netbook, and I was pleasantly surprised. When I am
surfing the web, which is mainly all I've used it for so far, the netbook runs as quickly as my laptop does. I also like that it has three USB ports and an SD Card slot.
It is small and light, easily slipping into my bag even with a sleeve on it, but at the same time it doesn't feel flimsy.
What I didn't like: The mouse buttons are in one piece, and that one piece is a small skinny strip of metallic plastic. I don't like it. It's small enough to be awkward
even for my small fingers, and it's annoying to have to concentrate on pressing only its ends to ensure I make the left/right click I want. Its mechanism also feels a bit
sticky, it doesn't 'feel' right. I also think the screen could have been a little bit bigger. The speakers produce tinny, hollow sound, which distorts everything from music
to youtube videos. However, I was expecting that because of the size of the netbook and prior reviews, so I wasn't actually disappointed. The case is very shiny and
prone to fingerprints.
Overall, the positives far outweigh the negatives. I was very pleased with this netbook, and would recommend it to my friends. As far as packaging goes, it came
packed in its own box, inside a slightly larger plain brown box. It seemed pretty well protected from knocks and shaking.
Perfect little computer!!, Jan 09 ,2010

I researched netbooks for a long time before being able to commit to buying one. I was even a little concerned after purchasing this Asus that it wouldn't be right - but
I was totally wrong! This computer is perfect for my needs! I'm a graduate student and i wanted something light a functional to carry between lectures with me. I don't
even notice the size of the screen and the battery lasts FOREVER!!! Those other reviews that say there is significantly reduced battery life made me wary but i was
using my computer from 11am to about 730pm yesterday (sometimes in sleep mode) and by the end of the day i still had 30% battery life left. It's important to put the
2. battery mode and the super hybrid engine mode on power saving. I chose the XP version over the Windows 7 version and I have no regrets. Overall a great
computer! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs a second more portable computer.
